This is much better than A Shinigami Valentine, if you don't mind me saying so. The interplay of characters was great to start with along with the reason you provided for the need to marry. That shows inspiration, though it does arouse a certain pity for poor Soi and Retsu and the other female Shinigami.

It will be interesting to see how you play this out.
