The first thing I have to say is Yay a new chapter.
Second, you are both evil and brilliant.
Soi-fong’s numbness sang true throughout the whole first part of the story. Her pride was palpable in Gwydion abilities. (Kenshin’s belief of no killing portrayed at its best) Her hatred and disgust at both Central 46 and Oomaeda was blatant and painfully obvious. But the emotion that was a tangible, almost corporeal presence was the hurt and pain she felt when she read his letter. That letter was both poignant and heartrending. It just helped to segue way into feeling hatred towards Ai and her group.
It doesn’t even matter that I completely understand their hatred toward Mayuri. That if they could bring him back from the grave and torture him unto insanity, I would stand there cheering them on. They became a group of sordid, filthy scum who I would happily dissect. And it isn’t even because they stole Gwydion. That was something that you could see coming from the first time Ai showed herself, so it wasn’t a shock or a surprise. No, it is because they cut off his arm and scarred his eye! After he had just gotten it back. (Plus the mental images of the actual torture they are doing to him, reconstructing him from the inside out, are not pretty).
The worst part is that even though I scorn and despise their presence, I still want to know more about them. What exactly is the meaning behind how they thought of themselves and how they appear in their “true” form? How exactly will Gwydion change if he undergoes something similar? Also, I keep getting the vibe for the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, so I keep thinking he is death, or will become death. His Zanpakutou helps give that impression too. (Ai being War, impetuous, rash and a love of fighting. Nozomi is Pestilence, a virulent parasite which can get into any place. Masahiro, is the only one that doesn’t quite ring true, since I see him as famine. Although, his using his hair to interfere with Gwydion’s body did give a specter of mistreatment of the body, which could play with the angle of malnutrition.) I can’t wait to read what happens next ^.^
Thank you for such a wonderful chapter.

HISTORY!!! Its awesome! Loved this chapter! So excited for the update I can't even explain it. LOL. The end of the chapter made me a little sad, but I KNOW Soi gonna get her man and Gwydion's not gonna make it easy on them. That makes me smile. ^_^ Are you gonna reload the revamped versions of your stories here, on aff? I can't wait!

You included KENSHIN! Oh my God that just made my night! I’m glad I could have given you some helpful hint/push/nudge, and I have no problem with one of my crazy thoughts being applied to your story. And even better you had him and Kaoru meet up. ^.^ I am having a fangirling moment and squeeing out loud.
Gwydion’s back story came off wonderfully. I could see how his character could have been influenced by not only Kenshin, but by his prior living life. The hint of him being a ninja before joining the second division was fitting, but at the same time a huge tease. My brain is running in two directions, wanting to know what and who he was before he died, and if his weapon from his living life was Izanami, and wanting to get to the point of Soi-Fong getting him back from Ai. (Which when you think about it is jumping the gun, when he only JUST got kidnapped, but there you have it).
The transition from the back story to the fighting was fluid. It helped express Gwydion’s emotions so well. I was literally tensing with the determination and dedication he felt in getting to see Soi-Fong alive and well. And the commitment to keep that vow throughout the fight with Nozomi/Ren (I knew I didn’t like her for a reason).
Not sure what it says about me (maybe that I enjoy petty moments), but the sheer arrogance, conceit and egotism that Kuroshiro/Masahiro displayed towards Yamamoto made me want to cheer. Hell, I kind of imagined a little chibi Soi-Fong sticking out her tongue at him and going “nyah-nyah I told you this would happen you big idiot” (Which she would never really do but I would).
The ending, while a cliff hanger, is most definitely the best place to have left it. I can’t wait for the next chapter.

oh gods, the suspense is killing me. It's wonderful having you back though, I was afraid you'd given up and left a story hanging like so many that had potential on here. But this one...you've got a whole life worked into these, from 'What the Eyes Can't See' to now in 'That Dreaded Word'. I'm sure there are those who critique and/or offer up suggestions for you, but I'm happy to stay enthralled and engrossed, awaiting breathlessly the next piece of your ever-growing story to be shown to us.

YAY! A new chapter. I did a wiggle dance in happiness, not because I didn’t think you would update ( I knew you would!) but because I was so excited that there was a new chapter up.
May I say HOLY MOLY that is not how I figured him getting his arm or eyesight back. I had this much more convoluted plan where Orihime shined in her absence. I mean seriously she not once popped up when I was thinking on how Gwydion would get his arm back. So when you have Gwydion showing up at the hospital my thought process was the following: ‘oh look Gwydion is talking to Orihime (once her description was given). Wait Orihime, why HOLY COW HE IS GETTING HIS ARM BACK!’. I swear I was yelling in my head, wriggling in giddiness and smiling like a fool.
I swear, from the beginning of reading this I was happy, what with an update, but the moment he got his arm and eyesight back I was ecstatic. And the part where he was jumping in the trees, doing flips and acrobatic maneuvers? My giddiness was doing the exact same thing!
His interaction with Senna is adorable. He lets her play with him as if he was a huge toy, and then her knowing that he was whole again. I swear I almost squealed. And the I almost cried when she cried, since she was the only one who understood that he might die and not come to see her again.
I’m not sure what to make of Gwydion’s slips into his old courteous mannerism. It shows of his past, but not enough. They are little tidbits of something that I want to know about. His past is so shrouded in mystery and the anguish of Soul Societies betrayal that I can’t help but wonder about them. And this aspect of his assassination identity, that threw me for a loop. (I’ll admit that the mask description made me think Naruto, but then I told myself Naruto got that from the historical facts and legends surrounding ninjas and to stop thinking about crossovers). It is just another thing that I want to know about Gwydion’s past, especially with the implications that he was a big deal before the betrayal.
And Soi-Fong’s emotional breakdown! I was right behind her with wanting to clobber the Captain Commander. And her throwing into Byakuya and Shunsui’s face of what they would do if there loved ones were the one being executed. Also, her fit of hysteria, that was just wonderful, since it showed her growth, since she wasn’t one for emotions. The fact that she broke down . . . I loved it.
I’ll just end this with saying Wow.

YAY!!! You're back. Sighs in relief. I prayed you didn't abandon this story, pray's answered. I know life gets in the way sometime and I'm perfectly willing to ride this out with you however long you want to take. Love Senna. More Senna. LOL Oh, yeah, giving Dion back his arm and eye, inspired, I thought maybe you'd leave him slightly handicapped. But it cool, I loved it.
