I've got to admit i'm intrigued by the concept of a Byakuya/ Rangiku fic. I've never read one before but seeing as this is you i have every confidence it'll be fantastic, it's already off to a running start!!

I really like how you allowed Matsumoto's inner thoughts to come through, demonstrating the depth and deliberation below her superficially flighty behavior toward her captain (turns out she's been looking out for him and doing her duties as a VC, to support and back up her captain, but in a nontraditional and underappreciated manner). It's not at all implausible but difficult to execute in a believable manner; you've done an excellent job. Also I'm finding this version of Byakuya is a great deal more likable than the one in the Different Circumstances universe (I don't know what you have planned for the future in that story, but as it is now he's quite unappealing based on his reaction to Kiyone et al).
