@Chapter 58: Jesus Christ! After what happened to Szayel... I almost can't believe that I actually read all of what happened to him... That chapter was a hard read- not badly written- but rather that it became so disturbing that I had trouble reading it without feeling guilty. I started wondering when this stops being just entertainment, and when it descends into fetishism or sadism.
Thankfully, I'm not so far gone as to be numb to the suffering of someone else, even the suffering of a fictional character. Especially when I think about the fact that what was done to Szayel is probably one of the worst things inflicted upon any (straight) man- being raped! As hard a time as I had reading it, I was impressed by the other character's reactions: especially by Karin's professionalism as she took care of Szayel, and also by Nemu's 'human' reaction- an interesting point when considering that it is Szayel, a Hollow, who's caused her sense of self and humanity to emerge.
I do have some experience in ambulatory care- having been a volunteer at a summer camp for disabled youths (where I regularly changed diapers) and worked as a carer (where I regularly helped wash and shave one of the clients)- so I'm not squeamish about male nudity. However, Karin is in a totally different league: she really is the embodiment of everything a care-provider should be.

@Chapter 66: Seriously, I can't believe how blase Yuroichi is about the fact that Byakuya is being sodomized on a regular basis. You've actually made me sympathetic to Bya... He's being abused on a regular basis and treated like he's someone's prison bitch, and then Yuro comes along and basically says "ha ha, it's funny because you're being emasculated and anal-raped!"
On a somewhat lighter note, we have Ulquiorra and Orihime. Unlike Barragon or Yammy, I never believed that Ulqui ever meant to hurt Hime. I'm not excusing him, but I get the feeling thatt was simply his lack of understanding that drove him to do the things he did...
"The next thing she knew he was kissing her. Deeply. Passionately. Aggressively. It left her knees weak as she felt his reiatsu envelop her. She had never seen him so emotional in her entire life, or at least not since the day he had fought against Ichigo for her."
The key part is "for her", since I get the feeling that Ulqui was asserting himself. He saw Ichigo as a rival for her feelings, which changes the whole dynamic of the fight. He isn't just fighting to kill Ichigo, he's fighting Ichigo *over* her. This fits in with the whole Arrancar courtship that you established, Ulqui is establishing his claim over a female he desires by eliminating the "competition".

@Chapter 36: I didn't realize how long this story was... I knew it was long from your comments, but I went to check out of curiosity, and damn, I saw that there is like a 100 chapters to this thing. Wow, talk about some series stamina, this story is impressive!
I guess the most pressing matter to address was the "survivor invasion". First off, this was a situation where nobody came out of this the winner. The consequences of what happened 6 years ago are openly acknowledged- these people don't have any kind of life to go back to! Yet, Karin sends Yuzu off with Ichigo to give her a chance at a normal life. Still, I was even more engrossed by the part when Orihime realized how upset Ulquiorra was at the thought of loosing her- as well as the growing realization of her own feeling for him. (I'll always be an Ulquihime shipper!)
And then we have the little gems with Szayle. I normally don't like this guy, but you write him much more eccentric (and slightly amoral) than how he's usually written. He's normally written like the evil German doctor in a Nazi-exploitation film. Instead, here he is: playing with Ajuga while giving her a check up, and treating Nemu like an actual person (not calling her a "pig", like Mayuri). I really liked the part where he orders her to be honest and stop acting like a robot- only to surprised when she cuts loose on him! Hell, he actually seems to be trying to "fix" poor Renji.
Anyway, I'll talk to you later!

@Chapter 26: Wow, a lot sure has happened since I posted my last review... First off, the chapter with Hitsugaya was hardly the mental torture you made out to be. There are more guys reading/writing on this site than I'd care to admit- the amount of crappy sexist fanfics I've stumbled across on this site more than attest to that *sigh*.
But seriously, I love how this story is developing. All the relationships are really interesting- as usual, I specifically like all the GrimKarin and UlquiHime content. In particular, I curious to see what happens next with Ulquiorra and Orihime. As messed up as it is, I can't help but want to see how their relationship develops, especially with Ulqui wanting to start a family. I also like all the bits with Stark and Lilinette. He's just so calm and professional- the scene where he's calming down Karin was really cool.
