normally i do like akon in fanfic, but he's way too much of a bootlicker here (even if he's been programmed or brainwashed by kurotsuchi to be this way) which thus brings harm to other people. given both he & nemu are 'creations' & likely both abused, you'd expect more loyalty & covering for each other, not how he's been here. happy to see retsu working it while mayuri is away as much as she can--love she's keeping akon distracted while sending isane on her seek & destroy mission & how the women are kind of all looking out for each other. soifon is not a very likable character, yet she's humanized here.

hope szay & nemu get lots of time together. i enjoy the little moments of domesticity between them. its so unlike what we normally see activity-wise & scene-wise w/these 2 characters, yet still in-character personality-wise to some extent. nemu isn't suddenly all pollyanna & lovingly mushy, szay isn't suddenly mister sunshine, but they are still tender to each other in their own way.

I get the feeling that Szayel and Unohanna are both beginning to suspect that it might be more possible than previously suspected that inter-species children could occur. If another one or two positives occur (and several of the candidates return and request a second go with him ~ lol) Unohanna might confided adding a test or two of her own. Her tests could involve changes to fertility levels and other possible side effects caused by the proximity of the two species when the members are of different genders. I think she might discover that the long lost truth of the conflict between the two species could be related to male possessiveness on both sides along with prejidist about keeping the two bloodlines pure. Her test results showing that hormone levels alter slightly when the shinigami females are in Szayel's presence and they are actually far more likely to release a viable egg or even two when with him. His sperm also show a greater ability to navigate the natural chemical barriers the eggs produce that usually deter pregnancy ... She speculates the same would be the case if the roles were reversed but at this time has no way to test that theory. Her initial reason for the hypothesis is the sudden high percentage of pregnancies among the participants and a less well documented increase of pregnancies in general among the females in the 12th ... Also the fact that SoiFon didn't conceive until after Tosin had converted. She might even go so far as to speculate that having the same gender members of each species in close proximity may have a hormonal effect that amplifies the possessive and aggressive nature of each. Since the majority of combatants have historically been male on both sides it could be viewed as the males from each side getting into unacknowledged territorial and mating battles (even Szayel could be in denial until confronted with the evidence).

It sounds like Nemu will need time to adjust internally so may sleep a lot. I can't wait to see what happens next ... And I'm hoping that Mayuri disappears while on the mission (would serve him right if he's captured and forced to participate in similarly conducted Hollow experiments ~ evil maniacal laughing ~ but that would be another story).

I so wanna see Szayel being the doting and gloating daddy of a lot of little kids and have a huge harem of adoring female companions.

Hmmm having just reread all the chapters to this point ... Szayel hasn't been with any candidates since Rangeku (first participant of round two).

Status of the women so far:

Nemu - pregnant
SoiFon - pregnant
Nanao - didn't follow through with it
Kiyone - pregnant
Hinamori - went through with it but not preg ... yet
Masumoto - same as Hinamori

Note both Hinamori and Masumoto have both sounded more interested in him after being with him. Though we haven't seen test results for Masumoto yet.

It could be hillarious if internal hormonal changes that might take place in a shinigami female (increased interest, arrousal, and fertility) when in the presence of a hollow male persist and increase in regard to that specific male if they do mate but she doesn't conceive at that time for what ever reason.

In this event Nanao would not be affected since he never actually penetrated or ejaculated in her. It is assumed that Hinamore and Masumoto were both penetrated and ejaculation did indeed occur but as of yet conception has not taken place.

Now then ... Consider what would happen to those two if his ejaculate worked like an addictive drug, they can try to resist but the need for another dose becomes overwhelming sooner or later unless conception occurs. Once conception occurs it dampens the desire or possibly even works as a sort of natural antidote. As I said Nanao wouldn't be affected and her hormone levels would have returned to normal. Hinamori and Masumoto however would still have elevated hormone levels and might be becoming increasingly more interested in a second round as well as their ovum receptivity of his genetic material might be increasing as well.

What if one or both decided that they'd demand a second round with him ... and if denied they will take matters into their own hands and break in to see him again regardless. It would be interesting to see the reactions to them requesting another round ... and possibly even more interesting to see them sneak/break in for another round if denied.

After noting the fertility rates mentioned in the last review Unohanna might have added a test or two of her own and be a bit confused by the results until one or both girls are caught having an unauthorized second go with him and afterwards acting as though they had had 'a fix' as if they were addicts.

Hmmm .. It is noted that mothers often overlook subtle and not-so-subtle differences in their children and that even a serial killer's mother will find a way to excuse his actions at the start even in the face of overwhelming and irrefutable evidence. Based on that documented psychological observation I wonder if Soi-Fon is in denial about her child being half hollow in truth. She could either be in the denial stage still ... Or at a young age the energy readings of hollow and shinigami could be so similar as to be indistinguishable from each other ... Or for reasons of safety while young a very young hollow may have an innate energy dampening field which only affects the'hollow energy' until puberty is reached (face it, a young hollow-shinigami hybrid would probably have never existed before now so the dampening would only be keyed to the hollow energy frequencies). If her daughter is half hollow it could be seen that Szayel's first assumption was wrong, it could also explain Soi-Fon's difficult first pregnancy due to her tendency to push herself to the end of her limits and attempt to go beyond them.

Based on this possible new insite it would be interesting to find that all the documented pregnancies which have been attributed to other potential fathers were, in fact, Szayel's. Perhaps Szayel and Unohanna should have an in dept discussion about hollow pregnancies and childbirth as well as any relevant characteristics of young hollows since a living hollow child has only been seen and documented once (Nel, and her energy readings were so low that nobody had a clue she was equal to Espada #3.)

I'm glad to see him being careful but also being concerned for the women he has been with ... with Nemu being his #1 favorite of course. I'm still hoping Mayuri doesn't return and that everyone is pleasantly surprised at how caring and concerned Szayel becomes toward each of the impending mothers and eventually the children. It would be a side of hollows that had never been available for observation. I'm pretty sure that if Soi-Fon hadn't been so dangerous and volatile he might have considered giving her a comforting hug (but he does value his life and he isn't that willing to put himself in jeopardy) ... Perhaps that will change when she is brought back in a severly weakened condition later on.

Updates are greatly appreciated but health and education MUST come first. Update when you can but don't neglect your health or your school work to try to rush things. Those of us in school know how tight time can be and the correct order the priorities should be. If you try to get everything done without regard to your health then everyone and everything will suffer so relax and do what you can when you have the time to devote to it or the bunnie simply won't let go so you can concentrate or sleep. Nothing like grumbling about plot-bunnie hasenpfeffer while cleaning up from an accident in chemistry lab because the bugger wouldn't let you concentrate or writing a line of yaoi/het into a report you turn in for a grade ... Not that the teacher wouldn't find the smexy and steamy bedroom scene between Napoleon and Josephine entertaining but the authenticity would be impossible to verify ... same goes for a camp scene between Alexander the Great and one or two of his (ahem) favorite generals... Of course your explanation of how those errant comments/scenes made it into the report could be almost as interesting as the report itself ... especially if it is an oral presentation that you are reading to your class.

Hmmm ... So Soi Fon and Tosen had a fling just befor he left with Aisen ... Wonder if the kid was even born before he left. I'm thinking she didn't really have anyone after him and that Szayel really is the dad but she hates the fact that the child's father would once again be someone she ends up considering an enemy ... and she already has a history of pregnancy difficulties ~ wonder if Akon will ask her to wait for him in a designated area and then 'lock her in until she calms down' ... just for her own safety and health concerns due to her history with pregnancies. He might even have sedatives that are preapproved by Unohanna slipped into her food and water (and possibly vented in with the air) to help keep her calm and prevent potential injury to the child due to escape attempts or hostile actions. I wonder if Szayel would at least appear concerned if she started having complications and he knew she was being kept under sedation all the time. It would be great to see her a few months into her pregnancy and having some complications that left her weak and distraught then he visits her for a few minutes (as he has made a habit of doing with each positive test candidate) and she finally breaks down and confesses that she couldn't accept that both times she got pregnant it was by a person she thought of as an enemy before the child could be born ... and he could hold and comfort her in some way ~ and honestly be stunned that she managed to conceive though he may feel that the complications are because her body is rejecting the baby due to his DNA. It would give them both a chance to show a softer and more vulnerable side ...

I'm all for Akon being promoted because Mayuri fails to return, he might have a few changes in how things are handled in that case. In all honesty if they didn't want contaminated test results the females would have been confined immediately after their time with Szayel ... and permitted several visits with him for a month or two ... then kept until the tests confirmed no chance of pregnancy a couple months later ... so confined a minimum of four or five months to ensure he is the only male 'contributor' and the female receptive timing was not missed (only 24 to 36 hours per month I believe).

I'm wondering about Isane's sister since she was the first to test positive and she was not confined right away ... how will she take this change of events? I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for Rangeku (and that all her other male companions have been platonic and greatly exaggerated due to the speculation of others and the false boasting of some of the males).

Poor Szayel ... I hope that Unohanna and Isane are able to give him a thorough exam and treat him so he can heal properly. I'd pretty much bet that Mayuri has been modifying him just so he keeps getting sicker and weaker. I'm sure Akon isn't totally clueless in regard to all the experiments that have taken place. I don't fully trust Akon but can hope that he has enough of a humanitarian side and a concience that he will allow the others to repair Szayel as much as possible (perhaps feigning concern and interest in Nemu's progress and morning sickness as well as the progress of any other positive candidates ~ so far we know of at least one other and there are two we haven't seen report to get checked for positive or negative results ... Round 1 Soi Fon ... And round two Rangeku even though it might be too early for her *still keeping my fingers crossed*). Of course with the timing and all I wonder if Szayel and Nemu are having sympathetic and subconsciously telempathic morning sickness (he feels sick so she feels sick and vice versa).

As for Mayuri ... It would be just awful if he was captured by a new crop of extra strong vasto lorde who have become the next generation of espada ... And it would be even worse if Szayel's scientific replacement got hold of him and started doing experiments on him ... Oh how he'd loathe that irony. Of course it would serve him right to end up like that ... But without the breeding experiment in his case.

Now would be a wonderful time for a general walk through of the council ... Just to let them get an overview of how things are progressing. Perhaps a few of the more benevolent ones can discover how horrendously Mayuri has been experimenting on his prisoner. I wonder how Akon would alter things if Mayuri was forced to give up his captaincy due to gross mistreatment and mishandling of prisoners (his treatment of Szayel) and personnel (his treatment of Nemu) ... Among other issues.

Still keeping my fingers crossed that Szayel will find he has a harem of fangirls ~ several of whom carry his offspring ~ and that Rangeku is one of them (her hair style in his lovely shade of pink and with her eyes but framed with his glasses ... Her figure eventually but with his slightly evil and mischievous twinkle in her eye...)

hurray, nemu & szay tattled on the prick & prick jr. so happy to read this chap. also glad unohana was sly & got mayuri out of picture for a few days. i normally like akon, but here, i'm hoping nemu or isane (who i've shipped w/akon before) will give him a hard kick to the nuts. he deserves it. hoping he'll come back to the good side soon, but if not, some sort of justice must come to him before story's end. maybe the baby will grow up enough to terrorize him (but akon won't be able to do anything back b/c its just a kid)... poor szay is always getting tortured! karma is a bitch & all, so some of it is likely justified for his own misdeeds, but he's a good guy now. can he & nemu get some loving in while mayuri is away? hope so. update soon.

Hmmm ... Sounds like Szayel and Nemu both need protecting from Mayuri in one form or another. I'm sure Unohana will do her best, but knowing the members of squad 12 I'm sure they will expect Mayuri to appoint Akon or some other squad 12 member to be in charge while he is gone. It would be soooooo nice if that 0.001% chance of serious (near fatal) injury happened to Mayuri on this mission ... making him a candidate for squad 4 treatment. I know Unohanna wouldn't overtly do anything to punish him for his treatment of his test subjects but .... I'm sure she will be less inclined to notice Isane or any other members being less than careful in their treatment of him ... she might even note that his slow recovery would require him to extend his stay (confined to bed/room ... in full traction and body cast perhaps) indefinitely ~ or at least until Szayel can be fully healed (though a damper on his abilities would be kept in place for safety reasons) and Nemu could get further along past the critical stages (as well as any other pregnant members). Oh well, that's wishful thinking.

I wonder if the mating experiments will continue since there are more volunteers and we still don't know if Soi Fon or Rangeku are pregnant (still keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that he was Rangeku's actual first as well as the daddy of a baby by her ... Szayel sooooo deserves a loving harem and a chance to be an adoring daddy).

I'm sure Unohana will allow for more couple time in Mayuri's absence.

like story so far. w/this chap, given how sharp cap unohana has been about what's been happening & how mayuri operates, i'm so surprised at her behavior in this chap. she's written as walking away from a clearly volatile situation, not even checking on nemu; she's gotta know mayuri would easily at a minimum physically torture/damage szayzel & maybe even kill him, while restricting nemu even more than he had already. yet in scene she's just gonna walk away. unless she's plotting & that will be revealed later, it seems ooc for story so far. even if there's manipulation or active plotting underlying this 'tactical retreat' of sorts, the fact szayzel may not survive night which in turn would severely disturb nemu, in turn putting this so-important pregnancy at risk seems extremely ill-advised for a captain of her keen intelligence.

you seemed to knock this chap in a.n. but it didn't read badly. the rift between akon & nemu & szay deflecting mayuri's wrath onto him on purpose along w/the last part which i found ooc are meaningful scenes for the story being told. its an entertaining story so far & i look forward to its continuation.
