That was an awesome short story. Terribly graphic and horrible bit it was good. You certainly have a way for making me feel bad for Szyel! Thank you all the hard work you out into this!

I loved the longer story, "King" and this fits in beautifully with it. Great story!

since Ichigo has been around his dad's clinic his whole life and has probably seen quite a few patients in critical condition ... would he possibly take his egg, both 'mamas', and several food packets back to Kisuke? He could at the least get Kisuke to make more packets so they don't run out ... or even make them more concentrated to provide more nutrition to the mamas. He could also possibly ask if Kisuke can 'distill' a liquid riatsu substitute after studying the samples and then either have Szayel fed intravenously until he is out of danger of miscarriage or having a temporary pump that will allow him more freedom to move about some and exercise to keep the egg healthy (thinking an insulin style pump like some insulin-dependent diabetics have to wear to have a continuous steady supply in their system). Ishen might be called in by Kisuke to consult on the best option and to provide a sample pump for modification if that is the recommended option ...) of course this is just a suggestion that Ichigo might think about due to Szayel's critical condition. It might also give Szayel a chance to be mentally stimulated and see that the shinigami scientists and he aren't necessarily as different as he thought (though they aren't as vicious or violent) and while he's still very weak Ishen can make it clear that the egg Szayel is carrying is just as precious to Ichigo's family as it is to Szayel and that he and Ichigo both morn the loss of the two babies he lost due to H'Tsu ... showing Szayel that even though he wouldn't necessarily have the emotional support to heal inside after his losses in Hueco Mundo ... he has an offer of emotional support from not only Ichigo but from Ishen and possibly even Kisuke as well as Ichigo. ... That bit of support might have several unexpected impacts on Szayel ... especially if Szayel almost miscarries and the others rush to his aide to prevent it from happening a third time ... (could so see Alpha Ichigo ~ as he sees himself ~ ordering Szayel to let his dad and Kisuke treat him while Szayel does the three critical R's ... rest, relax, and recouperate ... much to Szayel's surprise. (could also see a grumpy Grimmjow being upset about Szayel's "pampering").

Just figured that since Szayel has a history of miscarriages ... not just with H'Tsu ... that he might be the hollow equivelant of a resonance with 'gestational diabetes' but with riatsu instead of insulin ... and since a certain constant minimum level of riatsu is required in order to carry a healthy egg to term I thought the pumpight be able to monitor his levels and keep him above the critical minimum so he can successfully carry to term ... it would explain why he might still have a near miscarriage even with the extra care Ichigo gives him (and might be something he never considered but that Ishin might suspect after the close call ~ he's seen enough diabetics that he knows a few need the extra help to keep the levels from bottoming out. Once Szayel explains the importance of riatsu to the development of the egg Ishin and Kisuke could start working on modifying a pump that detects the riatsu level of the patient and can administer a 'boost' as needed ... a device which might actually fascinate Szayel. Of course Kisuke could also have been working on a riatsu restraint to use on Grimmjow after his return while the couple was in Hueco Mundo ... and have time to make a spare to use on Szayel once he 'delivers'... just to be safe ya know.

Hmmm ... Guess the stories merge here ... hoping that my earlier suggestions might be looked at and considered since I've never seen anything similar in any other fics but I have seen standard mpreg fics. Wonder how getting to the bath will go ... Hopefully it won't be too close to the other nest. Kinda wondering about the nesting materials for Szayel ... he needs all the cushioning and warmth he can get right now (not to mention food). Hmmm ... wonder if Ichigo will 'order' Grimmjow to hunt and bring back extra for Szayel while Ichigo guards the egg and sees to Szayel's getting settled in. Still wondering if Szayel might have a 'miscarriage scare' that gets them all seeking emergency help from Kisuke and Ishen. Also wondering how Ichigo is going to treat H'Tsu now.

Hmmm ... Perhaps an early warning sign of an impending miscarriage in a non-mistreated mate could be erratic riatsu fluctuations? Ichigo might not necessarily notice it but Grimmjow and Zangetsu would ... Szayel might be 'too close' to notice it and H'Tsu was mistreating him so badly that he thought the drops had been a result of the enforced starvation only. Now that they are all together and Szayel will be fed properly one or both of the sensitive individuals might inform Ichigo of the observation in time to prevent the impending miscarriage by rushing him to Kisuke and possibly Ishen along with the food packets.

I'm so hoping that Ichigo arrives real soon ... and we get to see the remerging from Szayel's pov as well as his thoughts on the turn of events (at first I'm guessing that he will expect Ichigo to want his turn at punishing him too for what he did and he will probably expect Ichigo to let H'Tsu be the dominant soul until the birth or next miscarriage). I'm also wondering how Szayel feels about having to be in the same area as Grimmjow after what he did earlier ... and now that they are technically 'sharing' a mate since he is more familiar with hollow mating customs ... and of course his pain and regret concerning his own recent losses upon seeing Grimmjow's healthy egg (and maybe a bit of jealousy along with the thought ~ at first ~ that Ichigo/H'Tsu will see to it that he will lose this egg too and with it his last chance to stay alive ... based on H'Tsu's own words after the most recent miscarriage).

Having a chance to get a bit of insight on how each of the three (ok ... maybe five) are dealing with the later events in 'King' will definitely be interesting ... especially if Szayel starts comparing H'Tsu treatment of him to both Ichigo's and Grimmjow's ... and even more so if Ichigo actually doesn't play favorites and gives Szayel as much care as he does Grimmjow (including listening to both sides of an issue before passing any judgments).

Could sooo see Grimmjow giving Ichigo an attitude about being an insatiable and greedy horn-dog because he just had to mate with Szayel upon remerging with H'Tsu (not realizing that H'Tsu had done it just before Ichigo arrived and not after ... talk about jonesing for a 'cat fight' either with his mate or for his mate ... ). That is if Ichigo arrives soon after the events in this chapter.

Poor Szayel, I know he was mean to both Grimmjow and Ichigo (Zangetsu and H'Tsu) but he did ensure that Grimmjow's basic needs were met so the egg could be carried to term so ... I'm sure all of this will truly mortify Ichigo. At this rate Szayel might be so broken by the time Ichigo arrives on the scene that Szayel will fully submit to him after the souls are rebonded. Sooner or later Szayel will have to bury the thinking part of his mind and just give into his pure survival instinct since H'Tsu can probably sense his disobedient thoughts via subtle body language and other subliminal signals that neither are actually aware of ... but again all of this is pure speculation on my part.

Even though it will probably give me nightmares and remind me of one or more painful past experiences ... I like the story (and the parent story as well).
