I first read this on FFnet, but I'm glad you've posted it here, too.
The way you wrote the hat into the story still gets me. (And let's face it, this is one of my favorite pairings. You've done very well with them.)

This is pretty good for a short story. I'm more a fan of long stories. I like to really get into the characters. The only time a short story is worth it for me to read is if it's a side story to a long one I'm already reading.
I can see this pairing, but not so much Ukitake/Yoruichi. I feel so sorry for them. For what "might have been".
