Disclaimer:
I do not own Bleach and i dont make any money from this fiction
Friendly advise
Warning this fiction is Yaoi which means Boy x Boy if you don’t like don’t read.
Darkephoenix: Yes I thought that, what better way to get Rukia and Gin on better terms than a friendly fight though Rukia did go a tiny bit overboard. As always I thank you for your review, always a pleasure to see a review from you.
Jennifer: Ha ha ha I’m glad you really enjoyed that chapter. I was proud of that comment Gin made it seemed like something he would say. I have to agree chapter 8 is definitely one of my favorites. Keep reading.
Affie and Rysha: Glad both of you are enjoying it. I’m trying to keep the story some what interesting and humorous without being retarded or dark. I know the pairing is odd but that’s why I put them together. I myself as a reader am growing bored with the same pairings over and over again. Nearly everything with Byakuya is Byakuya/Renji and a story featuring Gin is rare in anything. Please keep reading and I hope you enjoy the rest of the story.
Yakumo: Thx They are my two favorite guys. I am so glad you and everyone else is enjoying reading as much as I am enjoying writing. I am writing a love story after all (^^)b
Mayablackwolf: I apologize for changing Gin somewhat. Hes just confused. Per your review I have addressed some what the issue of the change of heart. I may revise a previous ch at a later date and introduce changes as well. Thank you very much for pointing it out. Also I do have pity for Kira, if there is enough interest im considering writing a sequel to help poor Kira find love.
AN: Yay chapter 10. Glad everyone is enjoying my little romance story. I seemed to have pulled in people that normally wouldn’t care for this type of story. Not bad for a girl that hasn’t written prose since HS and that was over 10yrs ago. On with the show.

Chapter Nine
Byakuya sat at his desk in the Division Six offices, and sighed. He had been staring at the same document for nearly a half of a hour. His concentration was shot. Working himself into the ground had done nothing to remove the memory of that night. The taste and feel of Gin’s tongue, the sound of his breath panted on his cheek when they had finally pulled apart. He had nearly frightened one of his unseated subordinates in to fainting when the poor soul and been ordered to deliver some paperwork to his taicho.
‘What am I going to do?’ Byakuya asked himself. Never had he been so disturbed by thoughts such as these. Even when he contemplated proposing to Hisana, he never lost sleep over the thought. With Gin, a simple kiss had sent him for a loop. All of his control was sent flying on the wind.
A throat clearing brought Byakuya out of his revere. Looking up he saw the lovely Retsu standing in the door to his office, her gentle smile soothing him. Standing upon seeing her, Byakuya bowed and gestured for her to take a seat at the two comfortable chairs placed in the corner of the office. Walking around his desk, Byakuya joined her taking the unoccupied seat, glancing up in surprise as his secretary brought in tea. Setting it upon the table and bowing, the young man left just as he had come.
“I asked him to prepare use some tea before I came to you.” Retsu said with a smile at Byakuya’s surprise.
“I’ve heard a rumor that you have been nearly unapproachable in the last few days.” began Retsu taking a sip of her tea. “Anything that I can help you with?” she asked being careful to no sound judgmental or pushy. If Byakuya wanted help dealing with whatever was bothering him, he would ask. Help cannot be forced.
Byakuya was careful to keep his face blank. This wasn’t the first time that Retsu had visited Byakuya. After the death of Hisana, Byakuya had been distraught barely able to function. Though his and Hisana’s relationship had been lacking in passion, he had loved her and had been fateful to her. Much to the surprise of the Seireitei, the marriage of Byakuya to a commoner had been a loving one. Her death was taken hard. Retsu had taken it upon herself to council Byakuya in that dark time.
Byakuya did not come out of mourning unscathed. The coolness of his demeanor was amplified to the point that it seemed he was totally without emotions. Though he kept his noble air about him, Byakuya always took care to assist in the training of new members of Division Six as well as regularly participating in sparring with his subordinates. He rarely snapped at his subordinates and was always willing to listen and settle disputes among his men. The fact that his attitude had seemly changed so abruptly is what brought Retsu to see him once again.
“Has something been happening with you and Ichimaru-taicho?” asked Retsu gently “I know he is a bit hard to understand at times but he really isn’t as bad as he has always made others believe.”
“Gin did something and I am not sure how to deal with it.” Byakuya said carefully, still unsure of how much he wanted to divulge to his fellow taicho. Not that Byakuya didn’t trust Retsu, she wasn’t the type of person to gossip. It was just embarrassing to himself at how easily Gin had flustered him.
“Oh, how so?” Retsu asked calmly.
“He and I made a bet on the outcome of a game of chess. I did not think for a moment he would win.” Byakuya began.
Retsu smiled to herself knowing full well that Gin had learned chess from Yamamoto-sotaicho. Gin himself had told her that they had played chess together while discussing strategy for Gin while he was spying on Aizen. There were few people in Soul Society that could beat Yamamoto in chess, Ukitake-taicho and Ichimaru-taicho being among them. Thinking it wise not to inform Byakuya of this, Retsu simply waited for him to continue.
“Needless to say, I lost. It was a well played match. Gin asked as his prize a kiss.” Byakuya finished, an enchanting blush spreading across his cheeks. Retsu’s brows nearly reached her hairline, she was so shocked. That wasn’t what she was expecting to hear. Speechless, Retsu sat quietly for a moment gathering her thoughts. Though she had thought putting the two shinigami taicho together in the same house would benefit them both she hadn’t considered it would benefit them quite like that.
“Did you pay the bet?” Retsu asked once she had gotten over the shock. Byakuya simple nodded.
“I suppose a better question is did you like it?” Retsu continued now completely enthralled with the idea of Ichimaru-taicho and Kuchiki-taicho involved in a relationship. The thought had possibilities. The hue of the blush deepened on his cheeks, that was all the answer she needed.
“Why not enjoy each other since its obvious that there is mutual chemistry?” asked Retsu. Byakuya shot her an icy glare.
“I don’t need another scandalous relationship. The elders would never allow it.” He said bluntly. Truth be told it wasn’t like he cared what the elders of the clan thought, it was simply that he was terrified of the things Gin made him feel. Retsu of coarse didn’t need to know that.
“It is your choice, of coarse, but I would highly advise you to find some closure with Gin. Your division will suffer for it if you don’t. That is all the advise I can give you.” Retsu stood up gracefully and began to exit the office. “Oh, by the way, I have released Gin to begin sparring once again within boundaries. I just thought you would like to know.” With those words, Retsu glided out of the office towards the Division Four offices.
Byakuya stood stiffly and walked back to his desk once again. Hiding from Gin was the cowards way. Gin was a taicho, after all, and he couldn’t avoid him forever not to mention Byakuya was fairly certain Gin wouldn’t let that kiss be the end of it. What was it that the too of them shared. Was it simple desire or was it something more. Byakuya wanted to find out and Gin held the answer. His mind calmed once more, Byakuya stood and made his way out of his office, notifying his secretary that he was going home for the day. With that he flash stepped towards home and Gin.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After lunch, Gin returned to the practice building to go through sword play motions. ‘If Byakuya returns home late again today, I’m goin’ to have to track him down.’ thought Gin with a grin, imagining how fun that would be catching the nobleman off guard. His little fight with Rukia that morning had left him in good spirits. The little fireball sister of Byakuya definitely had spirit. No wonder that substitute shinigami was so enamored with her.
Drawing Shinso from his sheath, Gin began a series of jabs and footwork. To the onlooker he appeared to be almost dancing. Though Shinso was only the size of a wakizashi no one could ever say he wasn’t deadly in Gin’s hands. Once released, Shinso could extend to an extraordinary length piecing anything in its way.
Gin thought back to his battle with Hitsugaya-taicho shortly before he left with Aizen. His heart had frozen when he was forced to fire Shinso towards Hinamori-fukutaicho. In that moment, he had feared that continuing on this path would result in the loss of his humanity and faltered in his resolution. Sensing the approach of Rangiku, Gin took a gamble and released Shinso towards Hinamori-fukutaicho. It paid off and Rangiku blocked the attack.
Gin stopped to consider what he would do if he should consider to pursue Byakuya. Though knowing he was not worthy of Byakuya, Gin was drawn to him like a moth to the flame. ‘My sins far outnumber my virtues.’ thought Gin.
‘Shut the fuck up with talk like that.’ shouted Shinso ‘You want him go after him. Unless you are resolved to face who you are and what you have done, you don’t deserve him. Fuckin’ grinning bastard.’ Gin grinned, yet again Shinso showing him who was once the teacher and who was the student.
Gin paused in his in his jabs. Turing at sensing the presence of Byakuya’s reiatsu. The wind blew slightly causing Byakuya’s scarf to dance in the breeze. The scent of sakura drifted towards Gin, teasing his senses. Grin widening as he stepped towards the new arrival. ‘This is an unexpected surprise’ thought Gin.
“Long time no see.” teased Gin as he approached Byakuya. Byakuya clenched his fists at the jab. The grinning man knew full well why Byakuya had been avoiding him and planned to make Byakuya suffer for it.
“Retsu said she had cleared to you to spar.” said Byakuya, choosing to ignore Gin’s teasing.
Gin nodded happily, a joyous smile gracing his face. Byakuya looked on with surprise, Gin looked really happy. Byakuya was entranced it was rare for Gin’s smiles to display such emotion. Normally using his smile as a mask Gin hid his emotions from prying eyes. He wasn’t hiding today.
“Wanna spar?” asked Gin with a grin.
“Very well.” replied Byakuya as he drew Senbonzakura.
“Bet?” asked Gin, grin widening when he saw the cold look that Byakuya gave him. Sighing dramatically, Gin charged Byakuya. The nobleman was prepared having become accustomed to Gin’s perchance for surprise attacks. Byakuya dodged the attack and countered with a swing of Senbonzakura. Gin was ready, dodged, and swung wide, barely missing Byakuya’s cheek.
Back and forth the jabs went until both shinigami were covered in a fine sheen of sweat. The simple pleasure of the match was evident in the swordmen’s bodies. Their blades sang and their souls soared. All too soon the match was brought to an end.
Gin began to pant, his stamina still low as a result of barely healed injuries. Noticing his flagging energy Byakuya held up a hand to stop the match, concern evident in his eyes. Gin straightened and sheathed Shinso once more.
“I apologize for the shortness of the match. I still have a ways to go til I can fight with my full strength.” apologized Gin, rubbing the back of his head in a nervous action.
“About the other night…..” began Byakuya appearing ever noble not a hair out of place. “I don’t understand what that was, but I feel that I need understand it before I can put it behind me.”
To say that Gin was shocked was an understatement, even Shinso was speechless and that was saying something. Gin had figured that he would have to force anything from Byakuya and here he was offering to explore the attraction that was evident. Gin was usually the one doing the shocking, not the one being shocked.
Finally, finding his voice Gin asked “What do ya wanna do?”
“I don’t know.” answered Byakuya slowly a slight tinting of pink evident on his cheeks.
Gin grinned devilishly. “Well why don’t we try this for starters and see where we are led.” Closing the distance, Gin took Byakuya’s hand and threaded their fingers together. Reaching up a hand, he trailed his fingertips slowly down Byakuya’s delicate features. Every gently Gin brushed his lips against Byakuya’s. only the barest touches. Slowly he pulled back and leaned to Byakuya’s ear to whisper “We will take it slowly and enjoy the ride.”
