Chapter 11

It had been five weeks since Toushirou and Shuhei had went back to the society. Rukia got up and rubbed her back frowning to Orihime.

"What's wrong, Rukia?"

"Are you feeling all right?", Rukia questioned with her brows creased.

"Yeah. I was going to ask you the same question."


Rukia sat down with a cup of tea. "I swore I heard someone puking in the bathroom last night."

Orihime nodded. "Me too. Wait. Shouldn't Karin and Yuzu be up by now?"


Rukia looked at the clock. "Come to think of it, Karin has seemed a little off this past week. And Yuzu was complaining about a stomach ache. Both have been..."

Her sentence stopped as she continued to think about the actions of the two girls. Orihime looked at her.

"Rukia?"


Rukia smirked. "I need to go to the store. Can you watch Icchy till I get back? I won't be long."

"Sure. Do you know what's wrong with them?"

Rukia's smirk widened. "Let's just say, I have an idea."

Thirty minutes later, Rukia was forcing Karin and Yuzu out of bed. When they came into the living room, Rukia held out a bag to each of them. "Go into the bathroom and take these. I don't want to hear no arguments. I think I know what is wrong with the both of you. Now go and then come back out to have some tea and crackers to settle your stomachs."


When the two had come back out, Rukia sat watching the clock. When the allotted time was up, she went into the bathroom and looked down with a smile. She had been correct in her thinking.

Rukia came back out to the living room and smiled. "Well, your not going to die."

Karin groaned and laid down on the floor. "Then what's wrong with us?"


Rukia started to snicker. "Oh it's nothing that nine months won't fix."

Yuzu's head shot up. "Nine..months?"

Rukia smiled. "Yes, your both pregnant. That's what the test was. Now, do you want to tell your father and have him tell them or what? They need to know."


Yuzu started smiling while Karin started to frown. "Karin?"

"I am not getting my hopes up. The last time I did, they were shot down. I'll believe it when I go to a doctor and have it confirmed. I won't destroy his hopes of being a father again."


Rukia smiled. "Well, I will send a call to the Captain General, requesting that he allow Captain Unohana to come to the house. I will tell him not to tell the two of them until we know for sure. I'll go send it now."

Four hours later, Captain Unohana smiled at the two girls. "Rukia was right about her thoughts. By the testing and what you have told me about your cycles, you are both close together, if you didn't conceive the same night. I will leave you vitamins and I am sure that Rukia can help you with the rest. Shall I have the Captain Commander tell them?"


Both girls nodded, unsure how to tell Toushirou and Shuhei.

Retsu promised to return once a month until the war started to check the two of them out and the baby that was inside of them. She then picked up the pregnancy tests that she preformed and walked out the door. This was going to be a sight that she didn't want to miss.

Toushirou, Shuhei, Isshin and Ichigo showed up at the First Division Office at the same time. All four had been sent a message to appear as soon as possible before the Captain Commander and neither had an idea what it was about. When they were given permission to enter, they walked in, closing the door behind them.

Yamamoto stood from behind his desk and nodded to Retsu. He turned to the four with a frown.

"Earlier today, A call came from Rukia, asking for Captain Unohana to be allowed into the real world to do an evaluation on Karin and Yuzu. Both of them had been acting sick for the past week so I allowed Captain Unohana to go and test them. She reported back to me and now I will allow her to report back to you. Captain, if you will?"


Retsu nodded and walked over, giving both Toushirou and Shuhei a sheet of paper. The two looked at it confused, having no idea what it was. She snickered under her breath and smiled.


"Those are the results of the testing I did. There is really nothing wrong with the two of them. Well nothing that nine months won't fix."


Ichigo's eyes went wide and he walked over, slapping them both on the backs. "Congratulations, Toushirou, Shuhei. I'll put it in laymen's terms. In nine months, both of you will be fathers."


The next sound was two thuds as Toushirou and Shuhei, fell to the floor, passed out from the shock. Isshin just chuckled and looked at his father. "They took it like we did when we found out that Masuki and Rukia were pregnant. How are we going to do this? With the war coming, and we don't know when, we can't exactly allow them into the real world."


Yamamoto frowned. "This is true. But we can't allow them here either, for the chance of the unborn children getting harmed. Retsu, you will check on them frequently, correct?"


Retsu nodded. "I already informed them I would return once a month until the war started. Rukia will help them between those times and when the war is going on. If I can not go, I will send Isane in my place but their prenatal care has already been covered."


Ichigo sighed. "I am happy for them but this is going to be hard on them. They won't get to witness Karin and Yuzu during their pregnancies, the changes in them like I did Rukia."


Yamamoto chuckled. "I will send the meeting screen we have had made for these reasons. Isshin and I used it to speak to each other constantly. This way you can also see Rukia and Icchy as she calls him. This way, while they are not there, they can still witness it.

Retsu, the first ultrasound you do, I want print outs for the boys. And every time you go to check them, I would like one also."


"I will remember, Sir. Allow me to go and make the proper arrangements."


Yamamoto nodded. "I will make the arrangements for the screen." He looked at the two still passed out on the floor. "Leave them be. They'll wake up sooner or later."

Two days later the screen was in position and Ichigo was sitting in the Shinigami office, listening to Icchy babble to him. Yamamoto came in and sat beside him.

"He's getting big."

Ichigo nodded. "He is. I'm scared. I feel like something bad is going to happen but I don't know what it is. It's unnerving."

"DA DA DA DA DA", Icchy squealed and giggled.

"Yeah, Da Da boy. Where's ya Momma?"

Rukia smiled as she stepped into screen. "I'm here. How did they take it?"


Ichigo chuckled. "The same way me and Dad did. Passed out cold. How are they?"

Rukia sighed. "Karin is scared that Toushirou is angry with her. Yuzu thinks that Shuhei will think that she got pregnant on purpose to keep him tied to her. Just the normal pregnancy hormones."


Yamamoto stood and walked out of the room to give Ichigo some privacy.


"I miss you so much, Rukia. I wish all this shit was over to where I was home with you and Icchy."

"We miss you too, Ichigo. But I understand that this has to be done. If it wasn't serious, the Captain Commander wouldn't have called you both back. Any news on a visit time?"

Ichigo shook his head. "None. We never know when they are going to attack. Do me a favor, Baby."

"What is it?", Rukia asked, concerned.

"I want you to keep a close eye on everyone in the house. Tell Orihime this but don't tell Karin or Yuzu. I have a feeling that something really bad is going to happen. I don't know when but I know that it will happen. These feelings are never wrong."

"I'll do that, Ichigo. I'll make sure we are all safe. As much as I hate to, I need to go and put Icchy down for the night. Just let me know when everyone will be there and I will have everyone ready to talk."

"Will do baby. Dream of me.", Ichigo whispered.

"I do every night. I love you, my husband."

Ichigo bit his lip. "I love you, my wife."


Rukia held Icchy up to the screen. "Wave bye bye to Daddy."

"Da Da.", Icchy said as he smiled and waved.

Ichigo chuckled and waved back. "Nite, nite son."


He sat there until the screen went blank and then picked up his zampakato. He walked out of the room, going to practice his moves. They would win this war and he would return home to his family. He wouldn't give up.
