The Lieutenant and the Horn

Rangiku, Shuhei, and Iba at once charged the hulking Espada, hoping he wouldn’t be able to defend against an attack from three sides. Iba’s was the first to connect bouncing harmlessly against the arrancar’s iron hard skin. All three couldn’t believe it, even a released zanpakuto didn’t scratch him.

“Everyone get away now!” Shuhei yelled but it was too late for Iba as Yammy’s large fist came crashing into him sending him flying into a building.

“Growl, Haineko!” Matsumoto’s zanpakuto blade quickly dissolved into ash encircling Yammy’s form but just as it happened with Iba her zanpakuto did nothing. Yammy with a burst of power dispersed the ash causing it to reseal itself. Meanwhile Iba, his glasses shattered and blood dribbling from his mouth charged the Espada from behind, jumping high into the air to bring his zanpakuto down on his head. Shuhei and Rangiku both kept the giant busy but the next few moments came as a blur. Just as his zanpakuto was about to connect with Yammy’s head the giant’s hand grabbed the blade causing the lieutenant’s eyes to widen in shock. Yammy only grinned before shattering the sword in his hand and with his other hand sent him flying again this time making sure he wouldn’t get up.

“Iba!”

“Shuhei watch out!” Rangiku screamed only to watch as Yammy kneed Shuhei in the gut and slammed his back sending him into the ground. Her eyes with wide with fear as the giant Espada stalked towards her, cracking his knuckles.

“Hmph, I was hoping three lieutenants would be a good challenge but you were nothing, now it’s time for you to say goodbye.” He said raising his foot up slowly, intent on crushing her.

A small garganta opened in the sky as Ryoji burst out from it, his eyes scanning the area. He could see several menos grande and feel the spiritual pressure of the vasto lorde but Yammy’s was more difficult.
‘Come on Ryoji, every second counts…there!’ and with that he vanished using his sonido to get to Yammy’s location as soon as possible.

“Get ready for one hell of a headache little girl.” Yammy’s foot was raised up enough that he could bring it down with enough force to end Rangiku’s life, for some reason she couldn’t move, every muscle in her body screamed to move out of the way but she was too scared after watching her two friends be mercilessly beaten. As the monster foot came down her mind screamed out for help. Her eyes shut tight not wanting to see the end coming, but when it didn’t come she slowly opened them and looked up seeing the Espada from the living world in front of her, his sword blocking the foot that would’ve surely crushed her.

“Hey beautiful, I told you you’d see me again.” Ryoji said with a smile holding out his hand for her to take. Her eyes were wide with relief and disbelief as she reached out and took his hand allowing him to pull her up. The smile he gave her was a genuine one, one that said a lot to her as he pulled her close to him and vanished from underneath the crushing foot to a spot nearby.

“Ryoji?! What the hell are you doing? You’d betray us for this woman?” Yammy was furious at the fact that he was being betrayed, and for a shinigami woman no less. It was what he said in response that made Yammy even madder and Rangiku’s heart flutter.

“I would die for this woman.” Ryoji sheathed his zanpakuto knowing he wouldn’t need it to defeat the overgrown Espada. He looked back at Rangiku and with the same smile he greeted her with stepped in front of her his uncovered purple eye staring into her eyes.

“I’ll deal with him, you tend to your friends okay angel?” she only nodded, finally knowing who the necklace was from. He caressed his cheek before turning around and walking towards Yammy with a look of grim determination on his face.
