Chapter Eleven
Byakuya stared at the door from which Gin had just exited. Small shudders still ran through his body as he attempted to right his uniform. That had to have been the single most erotic moment in Byakuya’s long life. Knowing that others could enter or hear only seemed to tease Byakuya to even higher pleasure. Gin was definitely full of surprises. Though Byakuya had achieved release, he was left longing for more. The feel of arms around him to comfort. Gin had purposely denied him the warmth of another’s touch after bringing him to orgasm. The normally stoic man leaned his head on his hands and sighed. This thing with Gin was getting more and more complicated.
A light knock came on the door breaking Byakuya from his thoughts. Running a hand over his uniform and quickly checking to assure his kensaikan are in place, Byakuya took a deep breathe. In a surprisingly steady voice he answered the knock. “Enter.”
The door opened and in glided Retsu. Settling herself in the chair in front of Byakuya’s desk. “I don’t have much time today but I wanted to ask your personal opinion of how Gin’s fighting stamina is recovering since both you and Rukia spar with him daily.” asked the medic taicho.
“He is becoming stronger every day. I fact I believe it wont be long til his stamina is fully recovered.” answered Byakuya.
“That is good news. I am planning on releasing him to return to his apartment and his duties as taicho of Division Three at the end of the week. I simply wanted to make sure his fighting stamina was returning before I released him. I believe Yamamoto-sotaicho has a mission for him as soon as he is recovered. I don’t know the specifics but I believe that he is set to lead an assault on Heuco Mundo to finish off any remaining Arrancar.” said Retsu, though she said it casually there was evident worry in her eyes.
Byakuya went cold at the information. Gin had just gotten away from that place and now their sotaicho wanted to send him back. Gin was strong and would undoubtedly be fine but the thought of him falling to one of Aizen’s former pets caused his blood to chill. They would know Gin betrayed them and would be out for blood.
“Are you sure its wise to send Gin, the followers of Aizen will be out for blood?” asked Byakuya casually, trying to keep his emotions tied tight.
“That is true, but Gin has the most knowledge of the area and the special abilities of most of the Arrancar of importance. His presence would definitely be a bonus in battles.” answered Retsu though she herself didn’t completely look convinced.
“You don’t approve of the assault?” Byakuya was becoming more nervous with this conversation. If Retsu had qualms about the assault one should take notice.
“Of the general idea of the assault no, but I do have issues with sending Ichimaru-taicho back there. We don’t know what he endured under Aizen. So far he has been uncooperative with me when it comes to talking of his time under Aizen. I am afraid for his mental heath to send him back. Though he is all smiles there is an underlying pain that I cant reach. I don’t even think he even knows its there.” said Retsu.
“Have you discussed this with Yamamoto-sotaicho?” asked Byakuya, face emotionless.
“I have but he seems to think Gin is strong enough to handle it. Byakuya I know that you and Gin have become…..close lately. Could you try to have him open up to you about his time with Aizen? If he wasn’t holding it all inside I would have less qualms with the upcoming mission. Forgive me for asking this of you.” Retsu pleaded, her normally gentle voice strained. Retsu was normally not one to ask something of this nature of another but these were extenuating circumstances and time was short.
Byakuya sat in shock. His relationship with Gin was not that of close confidant. They had underlying sexual tension but that didn’t mean their relationship was at a point that Gin was bare his soul. The grinning man kept his mask tightly in place. After so many years living a lie, keeping up the persona he had created was as natural as breathing.
A headache was beginning to form behind his eyes chasing away any of the lingering warmth from the release Gin had brought him. Assuring Retsu that he would try to talk to Gin, Byakuya escorted her to the door. Returning to his paperwork, Byakuya began to think on everything Retsu had said.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Byakuya returned home that afternoon to find Gin once again in the garden sitting on the bench under the tree. He seemed so at peace that one would not guess the mysteries he held in his soul. The breeze fluttered Gin’s short violet hair gently almost as a mother would do to a beloved son. Lost in his thoughts, Gin did not notice Byakuya’s appearance. Thoughts of his past mingled with his desires of the future. His strength had all but returned and soon he would leave the Kuchiki manor and return to his small but comfortable apartment. Gin frowned. Duties to Division Three would encompass much of his time and seeing the attractive nobleman would become much more difficult.
A twig snapped bringing him from his thoughts. Seeing Byakuya standing a few feet from him caused a grin to replace his frown. “What brings ya to seek me out?” grinned Gin as he motioned for the other man to join him on the bench. Wearing only his uniform and scarf, having divested himself of the taicho haori upon entering his home, Byakuya walked the short distance and settled himself next to the grinning man.
“Can we talk for a few minutes?” asked Byakuya, still unsure how to address the topic that was on his mind. Not wanting to push Gin into withdrawing. “I spoke with Retsu today. She said you have to talk to her about your time with Aizen.” The grin on Gin’s face wavered slightly, the only sign that the statement had surprised him.
“Would you tell me?” asked Byakuya. “If you really want a relationship with me you must be honest about your past. You lived a lie for so long that you became the lie.”
Gin stood up quickly and turned to face Byakuya, his reiasu crackled in the air. The normally in control man was losing his grip on himself. Shinso waking from his doze began to pulse subtly. ‘Control yourself’ Shinso said. “Control myself? Why he wants to know.” shouted Gin at Shinso then turning towards Byakuya “Do you really want to know what that sadistic bastard was like?”
Byakuya sat quietly never having seen Gin so out of control. The normally grinning man practically oozed anger and frustration. The emotions that he normally kept tightly to him were threatening to burst free. Byakuya simple stood and placed a gentle hand on Gin’s arm, not at all surprised to feel minute tremors coursing beneath the skin. Gin slowly regained his control and allowed Byakuya to lead him towards the bench once again.
“Aizen-sama first noticed me while in the academy. I was in my last year and was about to take the exit exams. While observin’ a sparing match between myself and another student he noticed that my opponent was unable to read me due to the fact that I can hide my emotions so well. After graduation, Aizen had me assigned to his division. Things went well for a while and I slowly made my way up the ranks. It wasn’t too long before I was his fukutaicho. I noticed inconsistencies in some of the documents that he had me file. That was when I approached Yamamoto-sotaicho.” Gin paused in his story to look towards the sky, watching the sun filter through the leaves. For a moment it appeared that he wouldn’t continue.
After a long moment Gin continued “Aizen rarely revealed any plans to me until it was already too far along for them to be stopped. I don’t think he trusted anyone no matter how loyal they seemed. I don’t know how it started but soon I became his whippin’ boy. All of his frustrations were placed on me. There were some nights I couldn’t even sleep from the pain of the beatin’. Soon the beatin’s weren’t enough for him and he took to rapin’ me.” Byakuya’s eyes widened at this confession. Never would he have believed this seemingly happy man carried around such a horrible secret.
“I never told anyone not even Yamamoto. I think he would have pulled me out and I was already in so deep I knew I couldn’t let that happen. I was never more relieved to take the position of taicho. For a while Aizen ignored me. For some reason, Aizen found more interest in his Espada than myself and I was allowed some peace in Heuco Mundo. Though he did call for me from time to time. So now you know my dirty little secret.” Gin said all this with almost no emotion on his face almost as if he was reading it off a document rather than telling another person of his past.
“How did you survive that?” asked Byakuya softly as his thumb continued to rub the back of Gin‘s wrist.
“When he would come to me, I would shut my self off. Shinso helped some he blocked off the worst of it until Aizen left. When I say I wouldn’t have survived without him I wasn’t exaggerating.” answered Gin no longer attempting to maintain the mask.
Byakuya growled low in his throat. How could Gin have even bear to touch him like he had at lunch while carrying around so much emotional baggage. He had been raped and yet still felt no disgust at touching and kissing Byakuya.
Seeming to read Byakuya’s thoughts, Gin said “Its different with ya. I know ya don’t want to own me. When things were at their worst I would imagine that ya were there to comfort me. The Great Kuchiki Byakuya lowering himself to comfort me.” Gin laughed bitterly.
For a moment they simply sat there not speaking. Byakuya broke the silence “I may not have been there then, but I’m here now.” With those words Byakuya did something that he knew went against everything that he had been taught as a nobleman. He pulled Gin into his arms and held him gently. The sounds of birds and the rustle of leaves the only noise audible in the garden. Gin resisted for a moment then allowed Byakuya to comfort him. Shinso began to hum. This was the first time in years he felt Gin’s inner world completely calm and he liked it because like all zanpakuto he hated the rain and it had been slightly damp here for a long time.
AN: I don’t like the thought of my heros suffering too much and Gin has had a long time to come to terms with his past. This is simply the first time he has talked with it with anyone other than Shinso. I hope you forgive me for this chapter, I am not really all that happy with it. To me if felt like a transition chapter. Next chapter will be better i hope. Please read and review.
