Chapter 11- Bruised But Healing

Kisukes POV:

Six months passed since the party at Yourichi’s and I tried to give Saya her space. That night gave me a new perspective and forced me to tell Yourichi that I couldn’t be with her anymore.  I had to completely break free of her grasp if I was ever going to be with Saya. Our circumstance turned cold after the night on the patio when I realized that I would do anything to hold her again and make her mine. I found myself eagerly awaiting our training time in the forest, every debrief that she came to me with even occasionally stopping by her office to hear her sing along with the music that she always had on. I found it charming that she thought that it helped her focus. 

Terrified that that night would have broken the new bond that we had come to find on our turbulent journey together; I found comfort in the fact that she became more playful with me in our everyday interactions and I relished every touch that she graced me with. It was like we were finally back to how we were when we were kids at the academy.  Keeping to our promise from the rock wall, we worked on developing our techniques in the forest in the evening, pushing each other to our limits, sometimes so close to death that it was almost erotic. I held back nothing with each attack, now confident that she could hold her own. Her power over her zanpaktuos had grown to such a level that I began to fear for my own safety at times. Constantly having to release my new found bankai to defend myself, I was proud of her and how far she had come. It was almost like we played hid and seek within the trees as I maneuvered to find her again and again in the cover of the leaves.

She stopped in the clearing to catch her breath,

 

“Are you ready to go back yet?” I asked with a confident playfulness.

 

Her eyes darted back at me with disgust, “No, I’m not done kicking your butt yet. I just need a quick breather” she said back with a smile.

 

The light from the setting sun shinned down on her as she now stretched her arms up to the sky, allowing me to see the curves of her beautiful body. As my mind wondered in the thought of what it would be like to have her arms around me once more, a bright light came from behind her as someone yelled “Look out!”

 

I lunged to pull her to the ground; my momentum caused us to roll as I tucked her into me. She yelled out in pain as her back crashed into a tree, stopping our force cold in its tracks. I looked back to see the bright flash of Kido strike the tree, destroying it on impact into tiny splinters.

 

Sill in my arms and moaning in pain I looked back at Saya stupidly asking, “Are you ok?”

 

She looked at me like I was crazy, “No idiot, my back is killing me!” as she let out a slight laugh.

 

I sat up and quickly began to until her sash; a smile graced my lips as I realized that it was the one had given her.

 

“What are you doing?” she asked harshly as she tried to softly fend off my efforts.

 

“Relax, I’m going to see if you are bruised or bleeding” I said back to her as I opened her shirt, exposing her lace bra. I felt a blush come over face as she slightly cringed while my cold hand touched her bare skin. Running my hand across her rip cage as if I was following the dark marks that continued onto her back. Now on my knees and leaning over her, I rolled her body toward me to get a better look at the bruise that branched out onto her back.

 

“What are you going to do, kiss it and make it better?” she snapped at me.

 

Taking note of what she said, I bent down to softly kissed her rib cage, reminding myself just how much I missed the taste of her sweet skin and the smell of her soft skin.

 

“Cute!” she said back as she slapped my back, “Now are you going to help me up?” 

 

 I sighed then picked her up off of the ground as she yelled out in pain again. My hand held on to her exposed hip,  as I couldn’t help but to look at her beautiful breasts tucked behind the black lace of her bra. I felt her eyes watching mine; she wrapped her shirt back as the sound of people approaching snapped us both out of the sensual moment that we had found ourselves in. The sound of rustling approached us quickly, a young man appeared out of the trees, heavy in breath.

 

“I’m so sorry, is everyone ok?” the young white haired shinigami asked.

 

I glanced at Saya, “Yeah, I think that we are alright” I said back  as I reached down to grab her sash off of the ground. “Just be a little more careful next time. You could have killed someone”

 

A fox-like grin came across his face that sent shivers down my back “I will” he whispered then turned to wonder back into the cover of the forest.

 

“What is your name?” I curiously asked the young man.

 

“Gin” the boy answered back then continued back to make his way back into the forest.

 

My gut told me to remember that name as Saya let out a another yell. I turnned back to tend to her once more. “Look, if it’s that bad I’m going to take you to Unohana”

 

 “Fine” She said,  putting up no fight as I cradled her in my arms and raced her to the 4th Division to get checked out.

 

Her hands locked behind my neck as I placed her on the bed holding me face to face with her, awaiting the entrance of a 4th Division healer. I reached back over her hands to let her know that she could let go as I could feel her muffled pain in her breathing against my lips. Even in her moments of pain I bargained with myself to hold back from kissing her. Her grasp released as her hands slid down my shoulders.

“Thank you for taking care of me” she said graciously.

 

Slightly surprised by her comment I began to smile, “That’s what I’m here for, to take care of you”

 

She playfully hit me in my stomach, "You act like I need to be saved all of the time!” My smile now more prevalent as I held back telling her that he did need it, but fully knowing that she could read it in my eyes.

 

The door opened as Captain Unohana walked in, “How can I help you?” she asked.

 

 Saya took her shirt off and threw it over to me, then turnned to expose her back without a word.

 

“That does seem to look painful” Unohana said as she handed a cup to Saya, “Drink this, it will help your healing and help you sleep too”

 

Onohana glanced over at me as she began to evaluate the injured area with her healing powers, “Would you like for him to leave?” she asked Saya.

 

“No, he’s fine” she said back with a  matter of fact tone.

 

“Oh I see,  you're lovers!” Unohana blatantly stated.

 

Saya’s eyes darted to mine and smiled, “No” we said in unison.

 

Confused by our reaction she walked over to the cabinets, “Mmm…well whatever your situation, I need for you to take these” She walked back over to Saya handing her some small blue pills then turned to look at me.“Can you take her back to her room?” She won’t last much longer once these take effect”

 

I stood up, “Yes, of course” I said back.

 

"Very well" She said as she smiled and eyebrows raised as she looked at us once more then left the room.

 

I walked over to Saya to help as she struggled to put her shirt back on. She pulled her arms through the sleeves and wrapped it back across herself.

 

“You don’t have to babysit me. I know that Yourichi will probably wandering where you are!”  She said.

 

Confused I answered back, “Why would Yourichi be looking for me? I’m not working tonight!” I handed her the sash that I took off of her earlier, her eyes now wide looking back ay me with a brightness.

 

Her words almost stumbled as she spoke,“I just figured that she would wonder were her dear Kisuke was!?”

 

Did she not know, I thought to myself? “Yourichi and I have been done for a while now." I let out a slight chuckle, "Do you really tune me out that easily?”

 

She attempted to hide the look of surprise now covered her face, “Really? I just assumed that y’all were up to your old tricks.” She questioned as I stood by her and she wrapped her arms back around my neck.

 

Her eyes now engaged fully with mine,“Yeah, really! So that means that I’m yours tonight” I said as I pulled her into me and cradled her once more in my arms. She snuggled her face into my crook of my neck, sending my heart racing as I took her back to her room.

Not wanting to let her go, I took every opportunity to take the longer route and she seemed to not mind. No words were spoken, but her body sank into mine as she became drowsier from the medicine that Captain Unohana gave her and I let myself become intoxicated with the smell if cheery blossoms the softly radiated from her hair. As I walked through the entrance to the 13th Division, Captain Ukitake greeted me with concern, “Is she ok?”

“Yeah, just a good bruise” I said back looking down at her limp body laying perfectly in my arms.

 

 He stepped back to look at us with a smile, “Are you planning on staying with her tonight?”

 

I stumbled over my words in response to  his question, “Um,…I promised…Well”

 

He laughed at my inability to put together a sentence, “It’s ok, I think that she would like that”

 

I smiled at his response, “Thank you Tiacho!” then continued on.

 

Finally arriving at her living quarters I placed her down on her bed as she struggled to keep her eyes open. I caressed her cheek,

 

“Kisuke” she softly whispered with smile, sending my soul on fire.

 

“Yes” I answered back, “Will you grab a tank top for me?” now leaning down to hear her more clearly.

 

Not thinking anything of it, I got up and snagged a green one from her dresser draw. Her painful moan caused me to turn and look to see her removing her shirt. I returned to the side of her bed and proceeded sit on the edge as her soft sapphire eyes gazed up at me.

 

“Could you help me?” she cautiously asked.

 

"Yes, of course” I said as I slipped the tank over her head and helped her get her arms out.

 

Looking somewhat embarrassed she asked, “Can you unlatch my bra?” With a smile I leaned into her wrapping my arms around and sliding my hands up her tank top to unlatch the clasp, taking in a deep breath to keep myself calm.  As I pulled away she kissed my cheek then whispered, "Thank you” pulling her bra off only to expose her nipples through the tank top as she laid back onto her bed. Her hand brushed my leg as she pushed her pants down. “Are you going to help me?” she questioned me.

 

I felt my face blush as I moved back and proceeded to slid her pants the rest of the way off. “Do you want me to get Koga?” I asked. “Why, it’s not like we are a couple anymore!” remembering that she had made it clear that they were nothing but bedfellows,  I rubbed my face again trying to remain composed then moved back up to her side as I unconsciously slid my hand up the outside of her thigh finally resting it on her hip bone. Like it was a natural reaction to her exposed leg, like it was something that happened everyday. With a slight bite of  her lip, she showed me that she was open to my advancement. An advancement that I didn't even mean to take part in but nevertheless, I was excited by.  I leaned down to kiss her forehead as she grabbed my shirt to kiss me. After the days events, I was now at my limit. Taking in the aroma of her breath I deepened the kiss, drinking her lips as if they were the sweetest sake that I had ever tasted. I felt a happiness that that flooded my body unlike I had ever known almost drunk with the fear that came with those new emotions. I pulled back, overwhelmed by the all that coursed through my veins.

 

With fear in my soul I looked into her beautiful blue eyes. “Not like this” I said to her as I could see the full effect of the medicine kicking in.

 

I stood up and began pacing the room trying to gain control once more, looking back to see that she had finally asleep. Not wanting to go, I crawled in bed next to her, taking to opportunity to caress her stomach as I watched her sleep.

 

Saya’s POV:

It's funny how things can randomly change so very quickly for the better! I had become very distant from Koga as my focus was on my training and I became comfortable again with Kisuke and our newly mended friendship. Now so relaxed that I was able to play and tease him like how we did in the past. It was nice to get back to that level of companionship and not worry about all of the rest of the drama that goes on in the complexities of our intertwined lives. I felt the smile come back to my face with Kisuke once again in my life. I found that the best way to combat my emotional attachment to him was to just tune him out when he spoke about Yourichi or made stupid perverted comments about me or any other pretty girl that graced his presence, allowing me to just enjoy our time together.

 

I walked down to meet Kisuke for our normal zanpakuto training in the forest, where we could be sure not to be disturbed as I kicked his butt day after day. I must say it was gratifying to make his lazy self actually work hard for something only for him to fall short for once. Especially since everything seemed to come so easily for him. I think that is one of the things that frustrated him most about our difficult relationship, he couldn't win. As I passed the training grounds I spotted Koga with Lieutenant of the 5th Division Sosuke Aisen. Trying to avoid any uncomfortable conversations, I took the long way around the outside of the grounds only to be headed off by both of them.

 

"Where are you off to?" he asked with the coldness of ice in the release of his words.

 

My head tilted and brow raised, "I just needed some time to myself. Time away... you know" I said as I forced a smile.

 

"Right, do you want to go grab a drink tonight?" he said with a the normal squint to his eyes. As if not to let me see the truth behind them.

 

Not really I thought to myself as I found myself answering back. "I have to get some work done but I will let you know if I get some time" 

 

To my surprise Aisen grabbed my hand, pulled it close and kissed it revealing a snake like smirk, "I didn't know that you two were together? And here I wanted to ask you out."

 

I pulled my now shaking hand away as his stair caused every hair to stand at ended.

 

Completely uncomfortable, I ended to the conversation, "Well it's complicated! So...I'm going to go!"

 

Embarrassed by my behavior and upset by my answer, Koga turned and began to walk back to the fields "She just doesn't know what she wants yet!" he snapped back.

 

Pressing my lips together and balling up my fists, I held back every hurtful comment that I so wanted to yell at him then turned and continued back on my path as shivers rolled up my back. Feeling on edge,  I looked back only to see Aisen watching me walk away. His eyes dark and a smile that left me wanting to run.

 

I arrived at our spot to find Kisuke napping under a tree. Feeling feisty, I sat down on his lap facing him so that I could whisper in his ear, "Come and get me!"

 

His eyes shot open as he wrapped his arms around me, "That's really not nice!" he said back.

 

I laughed, "Well you shouldn't have been sleeping, we are supposed to be training, remember?"

 

"Give me a break, I didn't get much sleep last night and you are running late anyway." his eyes blinked as he released a soft chuckle, "So what’s so wrong with me grabbing a cat nap?"

 

"Up late huh?" I said, letting curiosity take control for a moment, "Never mind, rule number 1 and 2!" I said back quickly before he could respond.

 

Leaning on to me to get up he pushed me down, making me land on my stomach, then grabbed my arm and pulled it behind me as he sat on my back. "How do you like it?" he said while laughing.

 

"This is so not the same thing! I was gentle damn it!" I yelled out.

 

He let my arm go and laid his body onto my back, "Is that better?" he whispered.

 

"Pervert!" I said back to him softly; not wanting to reveal that I actually enjoyed the playful gesture.

 

"Oh wouldn't you like to know what I'm thinking about!" he whispered once more.

 

"Not really! I have a feeling that it would be something that you could get hit for"

 

He chuckled as he sat back up rubbing the back of his head, "Quite possibly! Are you ready?"

 

I placed my hands onto the ground, ready to spring into action. “Tag your it!" he yelled as he smacked my butt and quickly moved into the forest for cover.

 

Stunned by his gal, it took me a moment to get up. I could hear his laughter bouncing around the trees, so pleased that he got away with it. I drew my zanpakutos and rushed toward his spiritual pressure making sure that he paid for what he had done to me. I found him time and time again, still faster than me I monitored his movements so that I was able to head him off  at every chance I got. As always time quickly went by quickly, sensing that he slowed down I stopped to catch my breath, leaving room for a little playful banter. Before I knew it he was rushing at me with panic in his face. His tackle rolled me into a rock that backed into a tree that shot a deep pain through my body causing me to yell out. I was ready to yell at him as an explosive sound echoed through the wooded area causing me to grab him tight into me. The pain seemed to continually radiate through my back as I allowed Kisuke to take my shirt off to see the extent of my injuries. I blushed as I watched him try not to stare at my breasts and his cold hand brushed across my rib cage. Amazed by the sensual touch that was quickly shot pain as he moved to my back.

 

Trying to regain composure and break the tension I blurted out, "What are you going to do, kiss it and make it better?"

 

The feeling of his lips against my ribs sent my body in to a pleasurable tingle. He helped me up only to be interrupted by the young shinigami that was the cause of my pain and suffering. I quickly closed my shirt and tried to regain composure as Kisuke spoke to him. The pain began to become overwhelming as I put up no fight in Kisuke's suggestion to take me to the 4th Division for care. As he picked me up and cradled me in his arms, my pain subsided by the heroic gesture that made my heart erupt with true happiness. 

 

As he placed me on the examination table I found myself not wanting to be released from his embrace, wanting nothing more than to kiss his lips. He reached back to unlock my grip, a firm reality check, reminding me of Yourichi's grasp on him sinking me in to the reality of our situation. I was glad to see Unohana walk in with her sweet demeanor as my mind could think of nothing but her and my Captain snuggled on their bench. I was stunned by her surprise when I took off my shirt in front of Kisuke; forgetting that she didn't know that he had seen me in much less before. She handed me a glass full of some warm liquid that smelt of herbs that I drank as she sorted out our relationship with questions. All the while fully knowing that Ukataki had told her, he could never keep him mouth shut!

 

Not knowing how to react to the question, I was comforted in Kisukes same reaction. I didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable or say something that would make him upset. The pain became crippling, as I welcomed the pills that she handed me and she left us alone again. Now feeling bad that she had volunteered him to take care of me I let him know that he wasn't obligated, suggesting that he just go back to being Yourichi's boy toy.  Only to be informed that he had ended it with her, reviving that fire that I had for him once again. How did I miss that? Had I really done that good of a of at tuning him out? I began to feel the drugs take effect, but held on to his words "I'm your tonight" Every inch of my body wanted to reach out and kiss him but I held back as the world around me became fuzzy instead, snuggling my head into his neck. The last thing I remember was the feeling of his arms lovingly cradled around me and his heart beat pounding against my chest as he took me back to my room.
