The Peach's Thoughts

“Argh!! Taicho, where are you!?”

“He’s currently in the other world doing-”

“Idiot! It was a rhetoric question! I want my Taichooooo…”

Matsumoto chided one of her assistants, who had also brought in more paperwork from above. She was feeling buried under the mounting documents, and she realised she never wanted to become a Taicho.

How did Taicho handle this when he was only a kid!?

Hitsugaya was meticulous when it came to paperwork. His handwriting was surprisingly neat and beautiful like calligraphy, because he was borned in the old Japanese era. He never drank anything else besides green ocha (tea) or herbal soup brewed by Hinamori. He was unexpectedly good at holding his liquor because during an important meeting for the Taichos, they had indulged in a bit of sake and they made him guzzle a few bottles. Hitsugaya obliged almost murderously, but they were shocked that he had hardly a tinge of redness on his cheeks. At the end of the whole session, he had only this comment.

Sake is bitter. Not good.

Matsumoto wanted to know what her Taicho’s weaknesses were, besides the obvious Hinamori factor. After all, it would be fun to see another side or sides of her uptight, no-nonsense Taicho. He was, after all, in a fun age too! Him being a teenager, despite his mental age, was going to be interesting for her!

Taicho, I wanna see how you’re coping with lovelorn girls from the other world too!!

Hitsugaya sneezed and rubbed his nose. He was playing with his pen as the lecturer droned on about some ethical issues for biological purposes.

What the heck is Kurosaki studying?

He felt a little uncomfortable wearing this world’s clothing, because it felt restraining and tight. It didn’t occur to him that the Women Association of Soul Society had deliberately chosen his outfit with careful planning and research. Of course, no eligible bachelor like Hitsugaya was left alone in Soul Society either.

Hinamori Momo had truly felt confused with the attention Hitsugaya was garnering, but of what reason, she still had no idea. Girls glared at her when she called Hitsugaya, but she didn’t realise that the namesake she reserved for Hitsugaya was uncommonly intimate. Shiro-chan wasn’t something you could call the youngest Taicho in Soul Society! Matsumoto always thought that they were a great pair, because both were just as clueless.

But recently, Hinamori was starting to understand something.

She had woken up in the middle of the night, after finishing a dream which was confusing and puzzling.

Shiro-chan…

It felt as though his hands were still touching hers, the feeling was genuinely real and pulsing with heat.

She couldn’t remember the details of the dream now, as the seconds ticked by. That was a pity, because she really enjoyed it while it lasted. Thinking of Hitsugaya always made her feel warm and protected. She felt shameful of how she treated Hitsugaya during the Aizen episode, and she knew she would never ever forgive herself. She tried to make it up to him, but Hitsugaya never seemed to mind her offensive behaviour towards him during that difficult time. For her, he had suffered a crushing defeat by Aizen, but he had never complained nor bore a grudge about it. He had trained intensively since then, his determination shone through his eyes, staining his orbs to a darker shade as he gained more powers. She noticed that even Hyourinmaru was of a slightly different colour when summoned.

Shiro-chan... how are you doing? I wish you will be back soon…

She suddenly perked up and strained her ears. There was a definite sound of whisperings from outside her room. She crept quietly across the floor to the sliding doors. She identified the voices as 2nd year female students in the Shinigami school.

“There’s no point hanging around here. Hitsugaya-taicho is away on business duty.”

“Why didn’t you say so!?”

“I didn’t know until I heard some of the assistants talking about it when we were walking past the main hall!”

“Aw shucks, I had thought of the perfect excuse to see him. When will he be back!?”

The fierce whisperings were loud enough to allow Hinamori to hear everything without really trying.

“I have no darn idea too! We must get his attention before Miko and the others get to him first! They were planning something too.”

“Gah, but Hitsugaya-taicho actually allows few women to be around him anyway.”

“Ah, you mean that Hinamori dork?”

“Yeah, and that busty Fuku-taicho, Matsumoto. You should see how they cling to him like survivors to a lifeboat!”

There was furious chuckling and futile attempts to shush the other down.

“Fact is, the Technology Unit started a pilot project to develop a new type of potion to heighten sensations and emotions. It’s said that once consumed, you could unleash potential power buried underneath you because of your natural characteristics. Sometimes, that dash of anger could make you utilise your power to the fullness.”

“Wow, imagine Hitsugaya-taicho all riled up and reckless!”

Each of the girls had a mental image of Hitsugaya grabbing herself and kissing her passionately. Or being pined down in a helpless manner…

“WAAAIIII ~~”

Both girls had to shush each other again, before subsiding into embarrassed giggles. Hinamori was blushing like an engine as she was tuned to the girls’ thoughts. As the girls retreated away, she was left to her thoughts again. The night was silent, except with the occasional sound of a cricket chirping.

Why do they want Shiro-chan to treat them that way? Isn’t it a bit embarrassing? Do they really like him so much?

She remembered vividly the manner in which a young Hitsugaya had devoured watermelons, scratched his head carelessly, called her names and hardly cared about anything else. He rose amongst the ranks quickly, because she realised that when Hitsugaya was serious, he became a different person totally.

Why do they want him? He hardly smiles, never jokes, and isn’t humorous.

She just couldn’t understand, but she knew… and in great denial about that… she would be devastated if he developed a relationship with a girl. But why? She simply couldn’t comprehend herself, or rather, she was afraid to know the answer. But tonight, she was feeling curiously brave and adventurous. Just for tonight.
