Part Two
Translation:
Seireitei - Court of Pure Souls (the part of Souls Society which is surrounded by walls)
Ne - So/Right (depending on when used. For example: Ne, Renji = So, Renji. We can go, ne? = We can go, right?)
Part Two
Renji walked the streets of Seireitei lost in thought. He was on his way to a fukutaichou meeting. He still had plenty of time to get there so he was in no hurry. The morning sun warmed his body as he walked on. He had not slept well after he got back from the living world with his Taichou. Various thoughts plagued his mind and they were all about his Taichou and the night they had spend together. They had not spoke about it ever since. Kuchiki-Taichou acted as if nothing had happened. Renji chewed his bottom lip and didn't notice that he was no longer alone.
"My god, Renji, what happened in the living world to get you so absent-minded?"
"Gah!" he jumped a bit, exclaiming. "Rukia, don't sneak upon me like that!"
"I was not sneaking! You are the one who just doesn't pay mind to your own surroundings." Rukia smiled, teasing her childhood friend.
Renji huffed, walking on not caring that she was tailing behind him.
"Ne, Renji, tell me what is bothering you." She caught up him and walked beside him, staring at his face.
Renji gulped, looking away. "No-nothing. It's in your mind."
Rukia snorted. "Oh, please. I know you Abarai Renji. Don't try to hide it, there is something that has been bothering you since you came back here." She got no answer from him. She sighed, looking thoughtful. She tried to hide her smirk as she came to realize what might get something out of Renji. "You know, I've been thinking that something happened between you and Nii-sama since he has been even more tight-lipped than usually."
That did it. Renji stopped but still didn't look at her in the eye. "What makes you think I have anything to do with it?"
She laughed. She had to. Were men actually this dense? "I'm sorry, Renji. You are seriously thinking that I can't count one plus one? You are so obvious."
Renji glared at her, frowning as he started to walk again. "It's none of your business what happened or did not happen," he said.
She grabbed his arm. "Renji! I'm only concerned. Did Nii-sama say something to you to make you so upset?"
"No, he did not," he answered, yanking his arm from her hold. "Now I have to go. I have a fukutaichou meeting," he said, continuing his way.
"He must have done something or was it you who said something wrong?" Rukia wasn't going to let him get away until she knew what all this was about.
Renji sighed, turning to face her. "Listen, Rukia, I don't wanna talk about it. I just want it out of my head."
Rukia's eyes widened as she thought what he had said. "So what happened then?" She could see hurt in his eyes but she didn't know what it meant.
Renji growled. "Nothing, leave me alone!" he exclaimed, turning to leave.
"Renji!" she shouted. "You are not going to walk away from me until you tell me exactly what happened or do you want me to ask it from Nii-sama?!" she rambled on, her eyes full of anger.
Renji paled, but a blush of anger and embarrassment colored his cheeks. "You wouldn't dare! If you really wanna know, I'll tell you. This better not spread through the whole Soul Society." He searched her eyes for reassurance.
She calmed herself and promised not to tell anyone. "You have my word, Renji."
Renji checked the surroundings but didn't sense anyone's reiatsu. He leaned into her ear.
Her eyes widened when he whispered, "I slept with him."
