Prepare for War

Warning Yaoi (boy x boy) don’t read if you don’t like.

AN: Many thanks to everyone that enjoys this fiction. Special thanks to Smexy Pie, satterb, Jennifer, Queensassycat, Affie, and Rysha for the review. I apologize for the delay in creating a chapter for this fic. I have been working on a Naruto fic lately that has me emotionally caught up. This one kinda stalled on me for a little. Don’t worry I’ll never drop it, but it will prolly only be updated once or twice a week. Also to Jennifer and all of my readers, I can end it any time that ya’ll want it to. I was planning on at least taking it through to where it collides with Finding Home, but taking it past there will prolly be determined by reviewer’s. If you guys call for longer I will see what inspiration calls me to do. I hope everyone enjoys this chapter.

Chapter Twenty

Ulquiorra carried a limp Grimmjow through the gates of the citadel. Several Arrancar stopped and stared at the sight. It wasn’t often that they saw such a gentle look on the face of their leader. On most days, seeing any emotion on his face was rare, so determined was his control.

Ulquiorra ignored them all. There was no reason to explain himself to anyone. If they had a problem they could come to him themselves. His entire focus was on the limp creature cuddled in his arms. Grimmjow wasn’t delicate by any means but for some reason, Ulquiorra felt the need to be protective of the feline Espada.

Taking his lover to their rooms, Ulquiorra placed the other gently on the bed and exited the room. He made his way leisurely towards the conference room where he had left Stark to watch over the sister newcomers. They had best have a damn good reason for pulling shit like that. Had Ulquiorra actually not been able to bring Grim back or if Grim had been injured, there would be hell to pay and it would have been taken out of the flesh of the two. Stark hadn’t been lying when he had warned the two.

Entering the room slowly, Ulquiorra let his emotionless green eyes scan the occupants of the room. Stark was dozing in one of the chairs, his head pillowed on his arms. Ulquiorra wasn’t fooled. He knew the other man was fully aware the moment he had entered the room. Stark was not a fool, nor was he inept. In terms of strength, he was just underneath Ulquiorra. In terms of inclination to lead, he was dead last. Green eyes left Stark and glanced towards the other two occupants of the room.

Both women were slender and delicate. Though, Ulquiorra could not fully determine their reiatsu level, he could tell that they were not created for their abilities in battle. Like any creature, desperate times would call for desperate measures and the even a naturally submissive creature could develop an ability to protect itself. That is what he believed had been the issue with these two. Aizen had obviously been experimenting with different forms of Arrancar. His reasons for making seemingly weak Arrancar was beyond Ulquiorra. Unless…their purpose was still hidden. Deciding that it best to keep them under close observation until their true purpose in showing up so late revealed itself, Ulquiorra prepared to get answers from the two of them.

Allowing his reiatsu to flare, Ulquiorra took a slight amount of pleasure in the look of utter fear that crossed the faces of both girls. Staring at the two with unblinking eyes, Ulquiorra watched them sweat under the pressure of his spiritual pressure. It was obvious that they were weaker than him. That reaction was something that was not faked. It was too much an instantaneous reaction to be faked. Stark’s hand on his shoulder forced him to draw back in and damper his power.

“Forgive us, Lorde.” whimpered the blonde.

“Who are you?” asked Ulquiorra, his eyes missing nothing.

“My name is Yuuki and my sister is Luna.” answered the red head.

“What is your purpose?” asked Stark.

“What was your reason for putting on that show earlier?” asked Ulquiorra.

Both girls looked down at their hands. They looked contrite and at the same time terrified out of their minds. It was obvious that there was more to their story than just a change in power.

“We were created by Aizen in the very beginning of his experimentation with combining the strengths of Hollows with the strengths of the shinigami.” began Yuuki. Luna nodded in agreement.

“We were not created from Vasto Lorde nor were we created from adjuchas. We were created from human souls transformed into hollow by Aizen himself. If we had to hazard a guess about the reason for our existence, it would be that we were merely the early practice for the shinigamification of Hollow.” said Luna.

“We have no real strength such as that a Vasto Lorde possesses. After Aizen ran his tests on us, he charged us with a mission. We were to infiltrate Hollow hives and maintain records of all evolving hollows. Every few months, we would report to him our findings and return to our tasks.” continued Luna.

“After a time, Aizen stopped meeting us. We hid in the wilderness, but we do not possess the ability to survive alone. The shinigamification has a draw back. It locks your hollow powers at the level that they are at transformation. There was no hope for us to evolve. Both of us were near dead when we were found by a clan of adjuchas.”

“They took us in and offered us their protection. In exchange, we used our weakness to their advantage.” said Yuuki.

“We were bait.” snarled Luna.

“Now Luna.”

“Don’t you ‘now Luna’ me. That’s what we were. We were used to draw stronger prey for the clan to devour. We were bait.” said Luna.

“That doesn’t explain your presence here.” said Stark, fully intrigued by the story.

“Our masters have heard of the…affection, Ulquiorra-sama has for the feline Arrancar. They say that Ulquiorra-sama’s control lay with his consort. The plan was to create a rift between the two. It is known that Grimmjow Jaggerjaques has a short temper and finds refuge in the wilderness. They hoped that he would be distraught by seeing his lover with another and escaping to the wild.” explained Yuuki.

“They planned an ambush for him. However, since he has returned with you, I would assume that the plan was not followed through.” said Luna.

“He didn’t get far. Barely a few miles outside of the gates.” said Ulquiorra.

“I see. That would explain it. Their ambush was planned for much deeper in the wilderness.”

Ulquiorra stepped up and grabbed Yuuki by the throat, slamming her against the wall. The girl clawed at the powerful grip, her face going pale before beginning to turn blue. Luna screamed and attacked Ulquiorra with tiny claws. Ulquiorra grabbed the cloth of her shirt and pushed her away causing her to slam into the opposite wall.

“What makes you think I shouldn’t kill you and your sister on the spot?” asked Ulquiorra. His eyes showed nothing. His voice told nothing. He looked every bit the robot that Grimmjow had always called him. He in this moment was the killing machine created by Aizen.

“Please…” gasped Yuuki.

“Ulquiorra-sama…” began Stark, as he stepped forward to stop him if need be.

“You conspired to kill MY Grimmjow. I should kill you now and save us all the trouble later.” growled Ulquiorra, red beginning to bleed into his eyes.

“What the fuck is going on in here?” growled Grim as he prowled into the room, the flaring of reiatsu having drawn him from sleep. He scanned the room, seeing his lover strangling the throat of the red headed newcomer. He arched a brow at the sight. Smirking, he strolled over to where the girl was struggling to release the iron grip on her throat. Leaning down, Grim leaned towards her ear.

“Don’t ever think to try and take what belongs to me. I definitely won’t be so merciful next time.” growled Grim. The girl’s eyes widened as she nodded her head rapidly in acknowledgment.

“Ulquiorra-sama…” purred Grim as he pressed against Ulquiorra’s back. The pale man glanced over his shoulder at the grinning Grimmjow. Grimmjow only used the honorific when he wanted something.

“Let her go.” He whispered in the pale ear as his hand glided down to link with the pale fingers than encircled Yuuki’s neck. The hand clenched for a moment before releasing the girl. She collapsed to the ground coughing and gagging as oxygen rushed into her deprived lungs.

“I’ve been needing some fraccion for a while now.” grinned Grim.

“You are not taking those two as fraccion.” stated Ulquiorra, having once again gained control and tamped down his reiatsu.

“I need some and this way I can better keep an eye on them.” purred Grim. Ulquiorra didn’t say anything. Facing Grim, he looked up into the electric blue eyes before turning to the two girls huddled together.

“Grimmjow desires you as his fraccion. Though I don’t approve, it is within his rights to claim whomever he wants as his own. If you ever betray him, I will finish what I started today and it will be painful.” stated Ulquiorra in his normal monotonous voice.

Both girls nodded frantically in acknowledgement. Ulquiorra turned without a word with Grim close on his heels. Stark crouched down before them once again.

“You two are lucky Grimmjow stepped in. I don’t think Ulquiorra-sama would have stopped. He’s too close to the edge when it comes to the kitty. You better watch your steps or you will end up royally fucked.” smirked Stark before leaving the two alone in the room. Both looked at each other and slumped against the wall. Neither wanted to feel the wrath of one such as their new lord and both were grateful to Grimmjow for intervening.

Halibel strode up to Ulquiorra and Grim as they stepped from the room. The color in her cheeks said that she had felt the spike in reiatsu and rushed from wherever she was to investigate.

“Come” said Ulquiorra before striding away. Grim shrugged and followed. Halibel could do no other than comply as well.

Once in the library, Ulquiorra settled himself in one of the comfortable chairs that had been brought in. Grim settled himself on the arm of the chair, his fingers linked with the pale ones of his lover. Halibel took a seat as well.

“Ulquiorra-sama…” she began but Ulquiorra held up his hand for silence.

“Wait for Stark.” he said. Halibel sighed but nodded. Stark entered minutes later and settled himself in the chair adjacent to Halibel.

“We are going to be clearing out the Hollow.” said Ulquiorra.

“Eh?” said Grim, his eyebrows high.

“They sought to destroy what was mine; I don’t take kindly to that.”

“We don’t have to destroy them all. Some are simply followers like those two girls. If we take out the major players and their inner circles, that should be enough to bring peace.” offered Halibel.

“That’s a wise idea, my sweet.” purred Stark. Halibel just rolled her eyes and looked towards Ulquiorra for acceptance of her suggestion.

“Does this mean I’ll get a decent fight out of it? Those pitiful Arrancar that escaped the shinigami were hardly worth my time.” complained Grim.

“This will be a major undertaking. Are we stable enough to do it?” asked Ulquiorra.

“Hmm, we are stable enough to initiate it. If a lot of major altercations occur then there maybe problems with resources. As long as we try to take out only the major players, it should be fine.” said Stark, his face serious.

“The good thing about lower level hollow is that their intelligence is on par with them. I have a feeling after we start taking them out that they won’t pose much of a threat to us. Most will probably go into hiding or escape to the Living World where the shinigami will take care of them.” added Halibel.

“Ulquiorra, I’m fighting this time. Don’t even think about stopping me.” growled Grim.

“As if he could stop you.” smirked Stark.

“Damn right.” grinned Grim, his body already twitching with excitement over the thought of a fun fight.

“We all will fight, at least in the beginning. I don’t want any risks taken with this. We need to make a showing of power to the lesser Hollow. They need to know who is in charge.” said Ulquiorra.

“Indeed, Ulquiorra-sama.” nodded Halibel.

“YES! Its time for war!” shouted Grim, jumping up from his seat on the arm of Ulquiorra’s chair. Stark smirked at the sight, Halibel rolled her eyes, and Ulquiorra clenched his hands into fists. Though he wanted to always protect Grimmjow, in the end he knew that his lover was a creature made for war. To deny him what he longed for was the same as keeping him penned up. He supposed as long as he was by Grimmjow’s side then at least he could make sure the over excitable man stayed out of trouble.

“Prepare for war.” said Ulquiorra, before standing, grabbing Grim’s arm and escorting him from the room.
