Epilogue

Ulquiorra sat in the library watching Grim doze in a large window. The days had been peaceful. Any remaining Hollow colonies now bowed to his will. Not even Aizen had revealed in this much control of Hueco Mundo. His power was absolute.

Glancing up at the blue haired man as he released a snort before drifting back off to sleep, Ulquiorra laughed silently at his feline lover. His feline traits became more noticeable in his sleep. Random purring was definitely a favorite of Ulquiorra. It was a testament to Grim’s utter trust in him.

Since Renji had recovered and returned to Soul Society, Ulquiorra no longer had trouble with random shinigami infiltrating his home. In return, he substantially decreased the number of Hollows forcing their way into the Living World. It was a win-win on both sides.

The only shinigami even allowed into his domain were Ichimaru Gin and Kurosaki Ichigo. Ulquiorra felt his brow twitch at the memory of the most recent damage dealt to the citadel from a ‘sparring’ bout between Grim and the substitute shinigami. He was beginning to regret giving in to Grim’s plea to allow the orange haired man access to Hueco Mundo. It kept Grim happy and tamed his recklessness.

“What are you thinking about?”

Ulquiorra lifted his green eyes to meet electric blue. Grim was very perceptive when he wanted to be.

“Recent events.” answered Ulquiorra.

Grim jumped down from his ledge and made his way to the chair his lover occupied. Curling in the lap of Ulquiorra, Grim nuzzled his face into the pale curve of his lover’s neck. He never got tired of Ulquiorra’s scent nor of touching him. It was a miracle in itself that they were even alive, let alone together. But it seemed that miracles happened even for those that others would consider evil.

Truthfully, evil was a state of mind. To the shinigami, hollow were evil. To the hollow, shinigami were evil. Grim wasn’t a philosopher so he would leave those thoughts for men that spent their lives debating the issue. He only knew that he was happy.

“You know, I was thinking too.”

“It looked more like you were sleeping to me.” commented Ulquiorra.

Grim nipped at the pale neck. Ulquiorra certainly had a dry sense of humor. He was emotionally constipated with everyone but Grim. It was understandable, though, since he was forced to rein in his massive power or else he would destroy everything. That wasn’t something Grim wanted to happen.

“I was just resting my eyes, I’ll have you know.” pouted Grim, indignantly.

Ulquiorra smiled. Well as much as he could anyway. A mere tilting at the corner of his lips. It was small and most would over look it. Not Grim though. He cherished those little things. He knew he was the only person allowed to see them. That made them special.

“What were you thinking about?” asked Ulquiorra.

“I was thinking that the two of us seem mismatched but we fit together nice.”

“I see.”

“What I’m trying to say is…Iloveyou.” said Grim so fast that the last was mangled beyond comprehension.

“I didn’t understand the last bit.”

“I love you, alright.” Ulquiorra was silent and Grim began to panic. He began to shift uncomfortably on Ulquiorra’s lap and fidget forcing a grunt from the smaller man as his hip dug into the tender area of his groin.

“I just think that it’s funny that what someone would consider a heartless being could fall in love. But I do. Love you, I mean. That’s the only explanation for the way I feel. I don’t want to fight you and I don’t want you hurt. I ache when you aren’t around and I can’t tear my eyes from you when you are.” explained Grim.

“Stop fidgeting and look at me.”

Grim stilled his movements and looked into Ulquiorra’s eyes. They were clear of red that would signal anger or a loss of control. There was only Ulquiorra gazing at him.

Ulquiorra was a master at hiding every emotion, of feeling nothing. Yet with Grim, he felt so much that at first he thought it would drive him mad. How could he handle feeling things for anyone? Emotions were a weakness and yet they only made him stronger.

“I know exactly how you feel.” said Ulquiorra, his hand reaching up to brush along the bone jaw.

Grim’s eyes widened with the realization of what Ulquiorra said. He didn’t say the words but he let Grim know that he felt them. That was more important than hearing them. To know that his lover felt the same way about him made his heart flutter in his chest.

Leaning down, his lips descended on the pale lips of his lover. Many times their comings together were hard and fast. Their loving was more about gratification and heat than actually stopping to taste and feel. This kiss wasn’t hard and fast. It was gentle and sweet.

Lifting his lips, Grim smiled at his lover. Things were right in the world. They no longer had the shinigami breathing down their necks nor was there any danger from the Hollow colonies. One might think that this life was boring. On contrary, not one second with Ulquiorra could ever be boring.

Sharing another kiss, their eyes were pulled from each other by giggling from the doorway. Standing there with her fingers over her mouth, Neliel smiled her wide innocent smile and waved to the two.

“Does this mean kitty-chan will be a mommy soon?” asked Nel innocently.

“You little runt!” yelled Grim as he lunged from Ulquiorra’s lap and chased after the small Arrancar.

Ulquiorra followed at a more leisurely pace and arrived just in time to see a dog pile of Grim, Nel, Peche, and Dondochakka. Arching a brow, Ulquiorra stepped over the ruckus and continued down the hall.

Searching for Stark’s signature, Ulquiorra entered the room where it pulsed faintly. It took a lot to force a reaction from Ulquiorra but as his eyes locked on the scene before him, he felt his eyes widen and his jaw drop slightly.

“What are you looking at….whoa…” commented Grim as he came up behind Ulquiorra.

On the bed sleeping was a naked Stark and a very naked Halibel. Grim felt his own eyes widen to the point that they nearly popped from his skull. Now that was unexpected.

“Close the door, you are letting in a chill.” mumbled Stark before pulling Halibel closer.

Ulquiorra was the first to recover and pulled the door shut, effectively sealing in the two lovers.

“Well, at least we know that we aren’t the only ones getting some.” smirked Grim.

Ulquiorra elbowed the blue haired man, forcing him to double over in pain.

“Hey, you didn’t have to hit me so hard.”

“What is that human saying? You only hurt the ones you love.”

Grim grinned and straightened. Trotting contentedly up beside Ulquiorra, he linked their hands and led them to their bedroom where they would continue the discussion that was started in the library.

And so ends the tale of the creatures known as Hollows. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Even what is considered most evil can feel love. The heart decides who it shall love and who it shall hate. In the end, home is what you make and to the heart, there is no place like home.
