Disclaimer:
I do not own Bleach, nor the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Gravity
A/N: Sorry if this chapter's a bit short, but I am of the opinion that a chapter should be as long as it needs to be, no matter how long or short it ends up needing to be. Well, I've written several chapters, so the plan is currently that when I finish a chapter, I will add the next chapter. Also, thank you to Baroqueangel and Nusku for reviewing. Reviews make me happy, and happy writers are fast writers. Keep that in mind.
Gravity
He felt happy and alive and clean and he did not know how the day could get better until he remembered that he still needed to have a conference with the Commander-General and inform the rest of his friends about what had happened, not to mention that not only was he now gay but he was in a relationship with Renji, and he wondered how Rukia would take that since he always thought she had a thing for him and since when was Renji gay anyway, or had he always been gay but kept it secret and did Rukia know, was he the only one who did not? It was all so overwhelming that he had to sit down in order to not pass out. And since when did he pass out anyway? He was not some sissy boy. He was a Captain-class shinigami, the ryoka who successfully invaded Soul Society to save Rukia. He could most certainly take care of himself. But not last night, not against that man. He had failed; he let everyone down. How could he expect to protect his friends and family if he could not even protect himself from one man? Who raped him, like some defenseless little girl.
He heard footsteps coming down the hall and then Urahara and Renji came inside.
“The Commander-General has been informed of the situation,” Urahara began, “and a teleconference has been set up at Orihime’s this afternoon.”
“Speaking of which, you should probably talk to your friends first.”
“Yeah, Renji, I know,” Ichigo responded, “and thank you for setting up the conference, Urahara.”
“Oh, it was nothing, Ichigo.”
His job of informing Ichigo of the situation complete, Urahara took his leave. Leaving Ichigo and Renji by themselves, again. Urahara never left him alone before, why the sudden change? Ichigo was becoming suspicious. Did he know? Was it even a secret? He had so much to talk about with Renji, he was grateful that Urahara had given them time by themselves and then he wondered if maybe Urahara could read minds because that would explain a lot.
“Is he psychic or something?” Ichigo asked.
“What? Umm. . . not that I know of. Why do you ask?”
“No reason. So, umm, we should probably talk about us?”
“Us? What’s there to talk about?”
“I don’t know, how about. . . is this a secret? Or does everybody know?”
“Whatever you want. Soul Society is surprisingly accepting when it comes to this sort of stuff. Or, they are now, at least.”
“Oh, then, how long have you been gay?”
“For a while. Rukia and I tried for a bit, but it just didn’t work out.”
“What do you mean?”
“The sex.”
“Oh.”
“I figured if I couldn’t get it up for her, I must be gay.”
“Just like that?”
“Just like that.”
“Does anyone else know?”
“Pretty much everyone except your earth friends.”
“Oh.”
“What about you?”
“Huh?”
“How long have you known you were gay?”
“Oh, umm, I didn’t know until last night, actually.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah, it was kind of confusing at first. I guess I always imagined I’d just marry some girl, have kids, the whole shebang. But, after last night. . . yeah.”
“You ready to talk with your friends?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be, I guess. But first, I need to know something: Are we, like, exclusive?”
At that, Renji laughed, which caused Ichigo’s face to match his hair.
“I’m serious,” Ichigo pleaded.
“I’m sorry. Of course we’re ‘exclusive.’ What else would we be?”
“I don’t know. . . I wasn’t sure if we were serious or anything.”
“Let me tell you something, Ichigo. When it comes to relationships, I take things seriously. I take us seriously. I want you to know that.”
“Thank you.”
Over the course of the conversation, the two had drifted closer and closer, until they were practically touching. A silence fell. Renji leaned in for a kiss and Ichigo complied and the kiss made Ichigo feel something he could not quite name, but it was a good feeling. And Ichigo gave himself to those feelings and he felt like he could face anything.
