Reason 5 - Because every time might be the last.
Isshin lays awake in the dark room, his arms wrapped around his sleeping son. He watches Ichigo dream, the boy’s eyelashes fluttering as he murmurs quietly, shifting restlessly. This could very well be the last time he’s able to hold him like this. Things are about to get much worse in this war they’re fighting and Isshin has no doubt that his son will be right smack in the thick of it. He just prays that Ichigo comes back to him when it’s all over, that the coming battle won’t be his last. He couldn’t bear to lose him now.
