Darkephoenix: Thx not sure what about it makes it stick out as unusual to you but I’m definitely glad that you are enjoying it. I’m happy to know that my fellow authors are reading this and enjoying it.
Big shout out to Donoven and Justine. I hope you are enjoying the story. This chapter is dedicated to you two since you gave me such praise. (^.^)v
AN: Heh, Toya is taking on a life of his on. I’m only just beginning this story and already the wheels in my head are turning for a possible sequel with Toya and someone possibly Kira. I really wanted to write a Het after Coming Home but now I’ll just have to wait and see. I’m really hoping to start working on interactions with Gin and Byakuya. Up until now Gin has been too weak and injured to do anything more than sleep. Oh I also made some changes to chapter 4 nothing major just plumped out some areas and made grammatical corrections. I hope you enjoy this next installment in my Bleach fiction.

Chapter Five
The next few days passed quietly. Gin spent most of his waking hours arguing with Shinso. The zanpakuto seemed to be bored but it was understandable Gin had been barely able to move since his battle so sparring was definitely out of the question. The only bright spot in Gins days was the gentle servant that attended him.
Though he was cautious not to show it, Gin had grown attached to the young servant whom attended him. Toya was gracious, polite, and seemed to lighten your spirits by simply being in the room.
“If there is nothing else you require, Ichimaru-sama, I shall leave to attend to Lady Hisana’s memorial.” informed Toya as he turned to leave the room.
“Wait!” called Gin. “Can I join ya in the garden, I’ve been wantin’ to sit in the sun for so long.”
Toya considered for a moment, though Unohana-taicho had informed Toya that it was acceptable for Gin to get out of bed for short periods of time, Toya worried that the walk to the private garden would exhaust the healing taicho.
“I promise if I get to tired I’ll call ya.” said Gin with a grin. The thought of actually sitting outside and enjoying the warm spring day was too much temptation for the grinning man. Toya nodded and assisted Gin in dressing in a teal colored yukata. The color really was stunning on the pale man. Mindful of his injuries, Gin slowly walked toward the stand where Shinso was resting. Taking the zanpakuto from its stand, Gin tied Shinso at his waist and with the assistance of Toya began the walk towards the gardens.
The garden was to say the least stunning. Sakura trees in full blossom filled the air with a sweet scent. A small pool filled with koi and surrounded by various species of flowers gave the garden an almost delicate atmosphere. Toya escorted Gin to a bench that was situated beneath a tree near the pond.
Gin eased himself down and sat in happy silence. The peace that radiated through the garden had a calming effect on Gin. It had been so long since simply sitting and relaxing had been an option for him. During his time with Aizen, Gin was forced to remain on guard at all times, least Aizen suspect his eminent betrayal. Even when alone, Gin had rarely trusted Aizen enough to relax.
‘This is nice’ sighed Gin as he closed his eyes and rested his back against the tree behind the bench. Knowing his master needed this quiet, Shinso held his thoughts to himself. There would be other times to irk his master into playful arguments.
The warm sun filtered through the branches and the breeze swirled the scent of sakura through the air. Gin was slowly lulled into a state of pure relaxation. The gentle sound of the breeze and the warmth of the sun cast their spell and Gin dropped off into a relaxing sleep.
Toya looked up as he finished his cleaning of the shrine and was surprised to see Ichimaru-sama asleep. Not sure if he should allow him to remain sleeping under the tree. The sun was beginning to dip into the horizon and night would soon fall. A noise from the direction of the house caused Toya to glance away from the sleeping man. Byakuya-sama stood in the door to the garden. Having discarded his haori, he stood dressed only in his shinigami uniform and scarf.
“You may leave us now, Toya.” stated the nobleman as he glided over to the sleeping shinigami. Toya bowed low to his lord and made his way towards the house.
To see Gin resting so peacefully in his garden was surprising. The man looked as if he was meant to be there. The gentle light of the setting sun seemed to soften Gin’s features. Here was not the grinning taicho that killed mercilessly. No, in its place was a man with no dark intent or hidden agendas. He was simply Gin.
Byakuya felt the air beginning to cool and knew that Gin should not be out much longer. Though the nights were no longer cold, Gin was still recovering from dire injuries and was more susceptible to the weather than a healthy individual. As Byakuya stepped towards the sleeping shinigami to awaken him, Gin’s eyes flickered open slightly and he released a moan of pure contentment and sent a bolt of fire down Byakuya’ s spine. Such an erotic sound coming from those lips was pure torture.
Gin glanced up and saw Byakuya standing there watching him. “Gomen.” apologized Gin a grin stretching across his face “I seem to have dozed off.”
“You looked peaceful.” commented Byakuya as he assisted Gin in standing. The grinning man wobbled for a moment as he found his equilibrium. Though pain still radiated from the injury, it was no where near the degree of pain that Gin had suffered through.
With a nod, Gin glanced around the garden. “I couldn’t resist the idea of sitting in the sun for a while and this peaceful garden soothed my soul.” Forcing back a delicate blush that threatened to spread across his features, he brought his hand up to scratch his head. Talking with Byakuya never ceased to fluster Gin internally. He could hear Shinso snickering in the back of his mind but chose to ignore it.
“Dinner is almost ready. Do you feel up to dining with me tonight?” asked Byakuya. Not knowing what caused him to ask Gin to eat with him but longing for company after a long day, Byakuya felt the words slip out. The stoic nobleman held himself stiff as Gin looked at him in grin firmly in place.
“Well I am kinda hungry.” answered Gin nodding his head in agreement to a meal before retiring for the day.
Supporting the recovering shinigami with a hand, Byakuya assisted Gin to the dining room. Settling down on a cushion at the low table, Gin allowed a servant to serve him his meal. Taking a sip of the tea provided, Gin glanced at Byakuya. The nobleman was delicately eating the rice and fish meal that was placed before them. Byakuya appeared to be completely focused on the meal and seemingly oblivious to Gin’s presence. Gin felt his grin spreading even wider at a devious thought.
Gin began to stand then suddenly collapse on the floor gripping his chest and moaning. Byakuya jumped up from his seat and came quickly to the side of injured shinigami. “What happened?” exclaimed Byakuya as he attempted to assess the damage to Gin.
“I think I reopened the wound.” panted Gin through clenched teeth. Byakuya panicked and quickly jumped up and summoned a Hell Butterfly. “I’m sending for Unohana-taicho.” stated Byakuya. Just as he was about to record his message he heard giggling coming from the direction of Gin.
“No don’t call her.” panted Gin in between fits of giggles. “I’m fine I just felt like teasing ya is all, if ya could see ya face.” Gin burst into giggles once again. It felt so good to really laugh. The pain throbbing in his chest and ribs was a small price to pay for the happiness he was feeling at that moment.
The look on Byakuya’s face was priceless. The normally stoic shinigami was flabbergasted. The panic he had just felt at Gin’s collapse was replaced by anger. “Just what do you think you were doing tricking me like that.” growled Byakuya stiffly anger was radiating through him as he fought hard to regain the control that Gin had so easily destroyed.
“I’m sorry Byakuya-san.” smiled Gin as he struggled into a sitting position once again. Wincing as he moved, Gin was once again seated at the table. Glancing at the pale face of his host, Gin felt a slight twinge of regret at worrying the handsome nobleman.
Byakuya remained standing with his fists clenched tightly. With a cold stare he turned and exited the room, his scarf fluttering behind him. Gin lay his head on the table and groaned. ‘You really did it this time didn’t you, you idiot.” came Shinso’s voice in Gin’s mind.
‘Shut up Shinso.’ came Gin’s replay. The zanpakuto snickered softly but did as requested. Sighing dejectedly, Gin eased himself to his feet and began the slow walk back to his rooms smile completely gone from his face. The aches in his body not nearly as painful as the aches in his heart. The memory of the horrified look in Byakuya’s eyes remained foremost in his mind.

Byakuya walked silently towards his rooms his calm exterior masking the inner turmoil that radiated through him. Senbonzakura pulsed slightly at his side, her worry apparent. ‘Byakuya, please be calm.’ Senbonzakura’s gentle and soothing voice projected calm and tranquility towards her master.
Byakuya slowed his steps and allowed her gentle love wash through him. His calm zanpakuto well how to calm him. Running a caressing finger over her hilt, Byakuya allowed himself to relax. ‘How could he even joke about something like that.’ asked Byakuya.
‘Though his actions leave much to be desired, I felt that the laugh coming from him was genuine. I don’t think he meant harm. It has been long I’m sure since he allowed himself to laugh’ Senbonzakura answered. Byakuya sighed, the fear that had grabbed his heart had been so painful Byakuya, even now was reeling from it. Placing Senbonzakura on her stand, Byakuya settled on his futon and closed his eyes but sleep was futile. Giving up, he lit a lamp and began reading a book.
Several hours later, Byakuya heard whimpering coming from down the hall. The quiet of the manor allowed sound to travel easily through the corridors. Standing silently he made his way down the hall towards, Gin’s room. Opening the door silently, Byakuya stepped into the room. Upon the futon Gin lay, sweat covered his body, the covers thrown aside and it seemed as a battle that only Gin could see was taking place.
“No….please Aizen-sama. Why are you doing this.” whimpered the sleeping man as he tossed again on the futon. Fear was radiating off on him in waves. Fury so strong boiled through Byakuya. ‘What had that bastard Aizen done to Gin.‘ thought Byakuya as he barely contained the rage.
Byakuya knelt beside the futon and gently placed a hand on Gin’s cheek and whispered calming words to him. The sleeping shinigami calmed immediately and seemed to settle into a restful sleep. Making sure that Gin was covered sufficiently, Byakuya made his way towards his room. Thoughts spinning through his mind at the horrors that this man had been made to endure for the sake of the Soul Society. Had the years spent as a subordinate of Aizen warped him beyond repair. Would the mask that he hid his soul behind every disappear?
AN: I know the ending of this chapter was kinda dark but I’m trying to introduce some depth to Gin. Please read and review. I am always welcome to suggestions. I like to hear from you that you are enjoying my writing and want to see more.
