Rukia Returns

Warning: This story is yaoi which means boy x boy. Don't read if you don't like it.

AN: wow four reviews ppl must have really liked that chapter. I’m trying to keep a little humor in the story as well as serious human interaction. Thanks for reading I am glad you guys are enjoying this little slice of my fantasies. On with the show.

Darkephoenix: again thank you. I’m glad you think so. It takes quite a bit of thought to keep both Gin and Byakuya in character while allowing them to develop depth.

Rosemary: Yep Rukia will make an appearance. I had been holding her off for a bit cuz I have small plans for her. Thanks for taking the time to notice and think “Where the hell is Byakuya’s sister?”

riokali: Thank you so much. I myself am a huge Gin fan. He is second in my heart only to Byakuya. If they kill him off in the show imma cry. I don’t know why people don’t write more involving him he is so interesting to think about. There is a lot of ways that you can play around with him and it still come out believable.

Dudette: LOL yea I was really unsure if I should do that to poor Byakuya. I felt bad writing it but I needed to explore the depth of the budding feelings Byakuya has for Gin. Not to mention shame on you Byakuya for ignoring Gin during dinner. ^^.

Jennifer: Thx for reading, knowing people are enjoying my story makes me extremely happy.

Coming Home

Chapter Six.

Gin awoke feeling refreshed. Nightmares had plagued his sleep but somehow their haunting of him had been eased and he had slipped into a much deeper rest. Rising slowly from the futon, Gin glanced around the room judging from the amount of light filtering through the window, he surmised that it must be close to noon. ‘How could I have slept so late.’ Laughing to himself, Gin dressed slowly in one of the simple yukata he found hung in the closet.

Stomach growling, Gin figured it was time to search for some lunch. As if Toya anticipated his need, the young looking servant entered the room with a tray of onigiri and miso soup. Setting up the meal on the low table Toya bowed and began to leave.

“Can ya sit with me for a few minutes? It gets kinda lonely when ya are ill.” asked Gin as he settled himself at the table happy for the presence of another even if it was a reluctant servant.

“If you wish, Ichimaru-sama.” answered the servant politely.

“I wanted to ask ya, do ya think that ya can help me back to the garden?” asked Gin not looking up from his meal. Toya bowed and replied “Of coarse Ichimaru-sama.”

Quickly finishing the meal, Gin stood slowly. He was definitely looking forward to the trip outside. Toya stood as well and led the way. Gin felt relaxation encompass him the moment he stepped outside. Walking slowly towards the same bench he had occupied the day before, Gin settled himself in the shade of the tree. The day was warm and it eased his aches. Shinso hummed a contented sigh as Gin’s inner world became tranquil.

Toya set about tending the fish pond and weeding the flower beds. Gin appeared to be sleeping but Toya knew better. The man was healing his soul with the peace that the garden exuded. Toya didn’t know what had happened to the man to wound him but it was there like a black spot on his soul.

Toya looked up and saw two men enter the garden. One he knew as a servant of the manor, but the other was dressed in the uniform of a shinigami with blonde bands grown long. The shinigami walked quickly towards where Gin was sitting. Gin glanced up and saw his fukutaicho standing above him looking as if he was going to cry.

“Kira?” asked Gin concerned for the gentle man. Suddenly, the blonde man lunged himself at Gin. Gin gasped pain shot through his chest but didn’t push the younger man away, knowing full well that this was one of the people that had to pay the price of his deeds. Gin placed his good arm around Kira’s shoulders and held him. The tears coming from the blonde man began to soak through Gin’s yukata.

“Kira, whatcha doing crying over me?” Gin asked trying to push his fukutaicho into a sitting position beside him on the bench. Reluctantly, Kira moved away and sat beside his taicho. Emotions still running high all he could do was stare at his hands.

“Ichimaru-taicho….” Kira began, his voice rising with his emotions “When you left with Aizen I was so hurt. You promised the next time you left you would take me with you.” Kira gripped the sleeve of Gin’s yukata, tears beginning to fill his eyes once again.

Unsure of what to do, the grinning man patted Kira’s hand gently giving what little comfort he could to the smaller man. Knowing full well he was to blame for the hurt in Kira’s eyes. “I didn’t take ya with me cus I didn’t want ya to suffer with Aizen.” Gin said quietly careful to keep his smile firmly in place. “Aizen was a perverted man that sought to corrupt others.” Gin knew he had probably said too much but it was owed to Kira.

Standing slowly his chest aching from the death grip of his fukutaicho, Gin offered a hand to Kira. “I think its time for a cup of tea.” Kira looked at the slender hand that was offered to him and was reminded of the day Gin had taken him from the prison after Aizen’s faked death. Looking up into his face, Kira saw the wide smile and slanted eyes that he had come to adore.

“Hai, Taicho.” Kira took the hand and Gin pulled him to his feet.

“I hope ya don’t mind if I lean on you.” Gin said as they made their way towards the parlor. “I’m not so sturdy on my feet yet.” Kira couldn’t have been happier. Gin needed him. ‘I will never leave his side.’ thought Kira.

Finding the parlor, Gin asked one of the servants for tea. Bowing slightly, the servant rushed to do as requested. Settling comfortably in a chair, Gin began to inquire about what he had missed while residing in Heuco Mundo. Kira was so intent on his rendition of the current events of Soul Society that he didn’t notice the small figure standing in the doorway. Gin, however, did.

“Hello, Rukia.” Gin allowed his grin to widen to show his white teeth. The girl in the doorway stood frozen, unable to move under the stare of the man that still haunted her dreams. The man whose reiatsu seemed to choke her as if surrounded by a hundred snakes. Although not wanting to frighten her, her fear brought out the predator in Gin.

“Ichimaru” growled Rukia, finally able to get a hold of herself. “What are you doing in the home of my brother?” Drawing Sodenoshirayuki from her sheath, Rukia took a defense stance.

“Wait, Rukia.” cried Kira “Ichimaru-taicho is a hero he was working under orders from Yamamoto-sotaicho since the beginning.”

Rukia looked at her friend in shock. Rukia had joined Kurosaki Ichigo in Karakura Town immediately after word of Aizen’s defeat to stave off the huge influx of Hollow and Arrancar that flooded the living world. Not knowing specifics and too busy with clean up in the living world to care, Rukia had no idea that Gin had been pardoned and reinstated as taicho of Division Three.

“Why do you continue to defend him?” cried Rukia to Kira. Gin watched the exchange between his fukutaicho and Byakuya’s sister. Though he appeared calm, inside he was nervous. If Kira was unable to calm her, she might attack and Gin was in no position to defend himself. Kira of coarse would defend him but Rukia had gained substantial fighting experience since Aizen had defected. Things could get bad very quickly.

Taking the initiative while Kira distracted Rukia, Gin quietly summoned a Hell Butterfly and sent it to retrieve Byakuya. Rukia looked torn unsure of what she should do. Kira was obviously sincere in his intentions but Rukia’s fear got the best of her. Pushing Kira aside, Rukia raised her zanpakuto and charged Gin.

Gin flinched waiting for the blow that didn’t come. Shielding him were thousands of shimmering petals. A small breath escaped Gin, Byakuya had arrived in time. Careful to keep his smile in place, Gin watched on in interest as Byakuya appeared behind his sister a hand gently grasping the wrist of the hand holding her zanpakuto.

“Brother?” Rukia gasps looking at the impassive face of her brother.

“We should talk Rukia.” stated Byakuya as he led his sister away to explain the details of Gin’s return to Soul Society.

Kira’s eyes scanned his taicho for injuries. Gin remained sitting calmly hands tucked into his sleeves, grin still in place. No one needed to know that for a moment his heart had skipped a beat as Rukia had attacked. ‘I need to heal faster, I’m not used to havin’ to depend on others.’

‘Might do you good, you grinning bastard.’ came the annoyed voice of Shinso. Though Shinso would never admit it to Gin, when Rukia had attacked he had panicked know that if his master was yet unable to wield him, he was useless in defending him.

“Kira, I think I’m gonna rest for a while. Please take care of our division until I am healed.” Gin asked as he stood slowly. Kira stood as well and with a low bow left the Kuchiki residence in order to return to his duties.

Gin heard the low voices and Byakuya and Rukia spoke. Sighing, Gin waited until Rukia left to report Ukitake-taicho. Byakuya entered the parlor looking as if nothing had happened. Gin settled himself down once more and Byakuya joined him.

“Well, that was certainly a heart stopper.” grinned Gin as he glanced out of the corner of his eye at Byakuya.

“Serves you right for that trick you pulled last night.” stated Byakuya stoically, not a crack visible in his perfect noble image.

“Well if ya hadn’t ignored me.” replied Gin eagerly awaiting the response from the noble. Byakuya looked sharply at the man seated across from him. What was his angle. How much of Gin was real and how much was just what he wanted people to see. So much of the man was a mystery. The more Byakuya thought about it, the more curious he became.

“I’m sorry. I’m so used to dining alone that I felled to show the proper courtesy to a guest.” Byakuya said as a slight pink blush began to creep across his face at the widening of Gin‘s grin. ‘Damnit’ he thought as he fought against the tingle that shot through his body at being the focus of Gin‘s attention. The man was a complete enigma.

“Did your sister take it well?” asked Gin.

“She was surprised and more than a little embarrassed. I believe she will visit you to apologize when she has more control.” smiled Byakuya fondly at the thought of his sister. Though not his sister by blood, the young shinigami had carved a place for her in his heart.

“Now that’s a rare sight.” grinned Gin his grin getting impossibly wider. “A smile on the face of Kuchiki Byakuya. I didn’t think such a thing was possible but here I am witnessin’ it with my own eyes.” There was that slight tinting of pink on Byakuya’s cheeks as the dark haired shinigami shifted slightly in his seat struggling to regain the calm that Gin seemed intent on destroying. Gin grinned as he thought how fun Byakuya was to tease.

‘Why have I no control when he’s around’ thought Byakuya. Finally his control secured once more, Byakuya looked calmly at the still grinning man. “Perhaps we should try again tonight. I shall strive no to ignore you during dinner.”

“I’d be honored.” grinned Gin. ‘This day has certainly turned out interesting’ don’t you think so, Shinso. The only response from the zanpakuto was a very audible snort. Gin grinned stood and made his way slowly to his room to prepare for dinner. ‘Very interesting indeed’

AN: This ch. Started off very boring for me to write but towards the end picked up. Im getting there with my two leading men just bare with me. Rome wasn’t built in a day so you cant expect Byakuya to fall in love in one. I’m pretty happy with how this ch ended next one will pick up at dinner maybe a first kiss in next chapter. Stay tuned next time!!!!!!! As always Reviews are welcome.
