Chapter Seven
Warning this is yaoi which is boy x boy don’t read if you don’t like.
AN: Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone. Just to clear up anything since I jumped ahead like forty years for anyone that isn’t really familiar with the series. After the academy, Kira/Momo/Renji were all placed in Aizen’s division. Renji was moved out and placed in division eleven shortly there after. Izuru and Momo remained until Gin was appointed captain of division three and Izuru obviously became his lieutenant and Momo was promoted to Aizen‘s lieutenant. Now, I am unsure of exact time frames so for my story I have altered the time frame to suit myself. Thank you guys for the reviews I really appreciate them. Oh and for those that didn’t realize, nearly the whole of last chapter was a flashback while Izuru stood in the shower. I don’t like writing *flashback start/end* I think it looks weird. Read and review and enjoy this chapter.
Chapter Seven
Izuru nearly groaned out loud at the amount of paper work that was required to run a division. He didn’t mind doing it but really did Division One really need all of this. There were some forms that were simply repeats of previous forms with a small item difference. Izuru made a mental note to try and send a memo to division one at some pointing out the unnecessary errors in paperwork. It never seemed to end. Izuru thumped his head down onto his desk. Captain Ichimaru looked up from his own paperwork and laughed at his lieutenant. Izuru shot the grinning man a look but said nothing.
A knock on the office door drew both their attention. “Enter.“ called out Captain Ichimaru. A unseated member of their division walked in carrying another stack of paperwork. This time it was Captain Ichimaru’s turn to thump his head onto his desk. Izuru snickered and took the stack from the boy. Lying on top of the stack was a letter to Izuru. Izuru handed Captain Ichimaru his portion of the paperwork, then settled down to read the letter.
Izuru scanned the contents of the letter. It was from the friend he had in Division Two.
Kira,
I looked into the records of Division Two for you and although I did find the documentation of the attack, no further action was taken to determine the culprits. I am truly sorry. I’ll keep looking into it if you wish, though I doubt I will find much else to help you. It says that Division Eleven was the scouting division first on the scene. If there is anything more on the accident it will either be in their records or in the records of Central Forty-six.. Obviously, you know where you will have to go for them. I’ll keep my eyes open for anything more. Lets have lunch one day soon. I’ll introduce you to the guy I’m seeing. He’s great. Take care. ~Minato
Izuru growled in his throat and bunching up the letter tossed it into the waste bin. Another dead end, this really was becoming annoying. How could a group murder two people and injure a third, then just disappear. Gin glanced up from his work towards Izuru. Izuru just ducked his head and blushed at his outburst.
“Somethin’ the matter, Kira-kun?” asked Gin with a frown. His lieutenant was not known for outbursts. Whatever was in that letter had upset him.
“Just some disappointing news, Captain Ichimaru.” said Izuru. Gin looked like he wanted to say something but found it wise to hold his tongue for now. He didn’t want to upset his lieutenant anymore today. The two had become something akin to friends since being forced to work so closely together. Gin stared at Izuru for several minutes.
“Let’s call it a day. There are some things I want pick up in Rukon. The paperwork can wait.” said Gin with a distasteful glance at the pile of work on his desk. The piles seemed to grow higher the more he finished. Izuru fought to keep the laugh from bubbling out. At least it would give him a chance to go to Division Eleven and see if they had any records. He really was not looking forward to going there. It had been two weeks since the new captain had taken office and knocked the entire Soul Society on its ear. The man had man a small child as his lieutenant as well as brought in a few untrained members. He really was causing a stir among the other divisions. Captain Ichimaru had said that he really didn’t care as long as any problems in Division Eleven didn’t bleed over into Division Three.
“Thanks Captain. I’ll drop off what we have finished on my way out.” said Izuru and grabbing Wabisuke from his stand, strode out of the office. Gin followed in suit. He and Captain Aizen had been too busy lately to meet. Now was the perfect time to remedy that.
Izuru dropped off the paper work and made his way towards Division Eleven. He prayed that he would not have to run into the new captain. He didn’t think he could deal with him today. The last time they had met, he’d had to call Shuuhei to fuck him raw after the meeting. Izuru was usually more controlling of his hormones. But around the dominating man, all his control went to hell. There was no plausible reason why Izuru was so damn attracted to the man. Izuru brought hand up to rub his temple in an attempt to stall the burgeoning headache. Approaching the large wooden gates, Izuru heard shouts and the sounds of fighting. Izuru figured they must still be adjusting the ranks. Perhaps he would come back later. Turning around, Izuru began to walk away from the complex.
“Oooooo, Pretty.” called an excited voice. Izuru turned to see the small pink haired child, dressed in the shinigami uniform and a tiny lieutenant badge attached to her arm. The girl walked up and grabbed the leg of his uniform. “Did you come to play with me?” asked the cheerful voice.
“No, I came to look through your division’s archives but it seems busy. I will come back later.” answered Izuru. The little girl kept a tight grip on Izuru’s leg and lifted her other hand to her lip, tapping it gently as if thinking. Suddenly, she brightened.
“If I take you to the archives will you promise to play with me?” she asked again. Izuru was baffled at her question. Should a child really be lieutenant of the most vicious division? Sighing, Izuru nodded to the girl.
“After I look through the archives, I will play with you.” he said. The girl brightened and seemed to take on a somewhat radiant glow. Who would have thought just agreeing to play with her would have such a reaction. Grabbing his hand, the girl dragged him with surprising strength through the double doors and down a hallway. “My name is Yachiru Kusajishi.“ said the girl.
“Izuru Kira” replied Izuru. As they made their way through the complex, Izuru heard loud shouting and a cry of pain. Stopping he glanced towards the sound.
“You worthless worm. Be glad I only cut off part of your ear instead of the whole.” shouted a voice. Izuru shuddered. If this was the way things were run in Division Eleven, he was glad Renji would soon be leaving. Renji was being interviewed today by Captain Kuchiki for the lieutenant position.
“Ken-chan is having so much fun breaking in the members.” said Yachiru happily as she tugged at Izuru wrist. Izuru followed her quickly, not wanting to have to deal with the new captain if he didn’t have to. The girl pulled him into a dust filled room stacked high with unlabeled boxes. Izuru paled. There were hundreds of boxes piled in here. Some with dust inches thick. What type of division was this that they didn’t have any type of organization. It could take him a life time to sort through this.
Sticking her thumb in her mouth, Yachiru explored the room with interest, chasing after a dust bunny that was bigger than she was. Izuru slumped against the wall. It was hopeless. It would take more than an afternoon to find any sort of documentation on his parents death. He really didn’t want to have to deal with the new captain, but if he came over regularly he would eventually have to. He desperately wanted to find his parent’s killers. Sighing, Izuru figured he should at least try his luck and open a few boxes. Perhaps if he labeled them, he would be able sort things through easier.
After a few minutes of opening and cataloging boxes, Izuru was covered in dust. A weight on his shoulder told him that Yachiru was situated on his shoulder looking intently at the files he was opening. She herself was covered in dust and dirt and looked very endearing. Izuru couldn’t help but smile.
“What are you looking for, Pretty?” asked the girl. Izuru figured there was no harm in telling her. Not like it was a secret and he had a suspicion that she would annoy him until he told her.
“My parents were killed several years ago. I am looking for the men that did it.” said Izuru, his eyes filling with tears at the memory. A gentle hand on his cheek caused him to look into the bright eyes of Yachiru.
“Don’t worry Zuru-kun, Ken-chan and I will be your family.” said Yachiru honestly. Izuru laughed at the child like honesty in her expression. Patting a hand on her head, Izuru felt his heart warm at the presence of the little girl. She had such a sweet honesty about her. As he continued to look through the files, Yachiru settled against him with her face nuzzled into his side. After a while, Izuru noticed that the quiet snores coming from the little girl. Deciding that it was a good place to stop, Izuru scooped up the girl in his arms and made his way out of the archive room. He knew both of them looked a fright, being in that dusty room for so long.
“What the hell do you think you are doing?” a deep baritone voice came from behind him. Keeping Yachiru tucked firmly against his chest, Izuru placed his hand on his zanpakuto and turned slowly. Standing behind him was the man he had been hoping to avoid. Kenpachi Zaraki stood there, arms crossed and a frown on his lips that deepened when he saw Yachiru sleeping in the blonde man’s arms.
“Be quiet. You will wake her up. Tell me where to put her.” hissed Izuru as he heart sped up at the sight of the man. The large man reached and pulled Yachiru gently into his arms. She stirred slightly before nuzzling closer into his chest. It amazed Izuru that such a large and evidently vicious man could be so gentle with the tiny girl. There was a softening in his eyes whey he looked at the little girl. Izuru’s brows raised to his hairline but he didn’t say anything. Then, he noticed that the captain was wearing an eye patch. Izuru’s brows wrinkled. When had he lost an eye? Izuru was about to ask when Kenpachi spoke.
“May I ask what the fuck you are doing in my division?” asked Kenpachi.
“Forgive me Captain Zaraki. I was going through the archives for information on an old case and since the division seemed busy, Yachiru offered to help me.” said Izuru attempting to keep his eyes from drifting over the strong arms and chest that cradled the girl so gently.
“Did you find what you were looking for?” asked Kenpachi as he strolled towards down a hallway. Izuru trailed after him.
“No, but with your permission I would like to come back. The information I seek is important to me.” answered Izuru. He really didn’t want to go into detail for the man but if it would gain him access to the archives he would. Kenpachi stopped at a door and pulled it open. Stepping inside he carried the girl inside.
“Hn, like my permission stopped you today.” stated Kenpachi as he lowered the girl onto a little pink bed. Izuru blushed and decided to let his gaze drift around the room. The room itself oozed pink. Izuru supposed the girl must really like pink. Then a thought occurred to him. Was her hair naturally pink? He would have to ask her next time he saw her.
“Tell you what, I will let you come back and I’ll even assign a few grunts to help you sort through all that shit.” said Kenpachi. Izuru eyes brightened. He hadn’t expected the captain to be so generous. Perhaps he was mistaken about him. The gleam in the man’s eye, dampened his glee. ‘What was the catch?’ Izuru thought to himself. Kenpachi’s grin widened to almost feral proportions.
“What can I do for you in exchange?” asked Izuru cautiously.
“Have dinner with me every night for a month.” said Kenpachi with a grin. Izuru paled. Dinner with the captain, for a month? He would go mad. Hell, even now just being in his presence had already sent Izuru’s hormones into overdrive. Izuru had to bite his lip to keep from groaning out loud. Kenpachi’s eyes were drawn to the lip that was pulled between Izuru’s white teeth.
His grin deepened. It was going to be really fun. He supposed he could have asked for something more devious but the thought of the little blonde lieutenant being in his company every day for a month interested Kenpachi greatly. Not to mention he was smart enough to know not to push for too much so early on. Dinner every night would be enough….for now. And Yachiru seemed to like him, which was a plus. The pink haired girl had always been distant to his previous lovers. The girl was his daughter in everyway but blood. Any one he spent any reasonable amount of time with would have to be liked with Yachiru as well as himself.
“Agreed.” said Izuru. “Starting tomorrow for a month I will have dinner with you in exchange for permission to freely explore the archives.” Kenpachi grinned even wider. This was going to be so fun. Izuru didn’t say anything else to Kenpachi and left the division. Izuru stomped homeward. He couldn’t believe he had agreed to those ridiculous terms. He was a lieutenant and should be granted the right to peruse the files. However, division files were accessible at the discretion of the individual captain.
Opening his door, Izuru stepped into the neat apartment. It was his gift to himself after being promoted to lieutenant. The increase in pay allowed him to upgrade from his previous apartment. Closing and locking the door, Izuru settled Wabisuke on his stand and after removing his sandals, strode into the apartment. He felt his body burning up and he knew the reason. That fucking captain had gotten under his skin…again. Izuru was wound tight and for a brief moment, considered calling Shuuhei to help release some of the tension. Tossing that idea aside, Izuru didn’t want to have to deal with his annoying ass. He knew without a doubt that Shuuhei would bring up the topic of the last time they had met. He really didn't want to deal with Shuuhei telling him he should go get fucked by his fantasy. He really didn't need to deal with that tonight.
Tonight he was going to have to turn to a different form of relaxation. Pulling a jug and a cup from the cupboard, Izuru began to drink. The sake was room temperature and went down smooth. He kept the jug in case of friends coming over. He himself didn’t drink often but enjoyed joining Renji and Shuuhei for drinks occasionally. After a few minutes, he felt his body begin to calm as the sake took effect. Deciding that he was relaxed enough, Izuru trudged towards his bed and plopped down. The effect of the sake coupled with his mental exhaustion pulled him quickly into sleep. His last though being of the large captain.
