The Pact
Ryuuken Ishida glanced up from his paperwork, half expecting to see someone else in the room with him. He had felt an odd stir of power for a fleeting instant and then it had been gone. He shrugged and rolled his shoulders trying to loosen them up from sitting hunched in one position too long before going back to his charts. It wasn’t an unusual thing for him to sense temporary power flares. It happened all the time. So, why did this one bother him? The energy felt odd but also rather familiar and he couldn’t put his finger on where he’d felt it before. He was quite shocked when moments later he found himself slammed face first into said paperwork, his wrists pinned painfully behind him. He glanced up, squinting slightly as power blazed and he was faced with several arrows pointed at him.
A well dressed woman stepped from behind the archers, snapping open a thick parchment scroll.
“Ryuuken Ishida, you have been accused of high treason and are hereby branded a traitor. As such, you are so ordered to appear before the high council in three days to be judged for your crimes.”
He stared at her for a moment, not registering the words but then horrible realization dawned on him. Before he could utter a word in protest or start to struggle the woman snapped her fingers and ordered. “Take him.”

“What was that?” Orihime asked, glancing around at her companions. They had all gathered around Ichigo’s kitchen table to do homework since Uryuu was tutoring three out of the six people there for their college finals.
Renji and Rukia both frowned, looking around for the source of the odd power flux before everything seemed to explode in the room. The lights shattered, leaving everyone momentarily blinded by the dark before several light bows flared to bright life, all pointed at the people around the table. But where Quincy bows were white tinged with blue these were red and dark shadows seemed to pulse and wrap around the arrows of each one.
“We are here for Uryuu Ishida, son of the traitor Ryuuken Ishida.”
Everyone looked at anyone in the room but Uryuu, sensing the very real threat to him, hands going to weapons almost instantly. The woman who’d been speaking looked annoyed and simply waved a hand, locking everyone in place.
“Since you’re all so forthcoming: take the males. Leave the females, they’re obviously not him.”
“Hey! Why are all the lights out and what’s that . . .” Isshin began, coming into the room before halting not more than a couple of steps inside the door. His eyes narrowed dangerously as he stared at the circle of red surrounding his kitchen table. “What is the meaning of this, Alexa?” he demanded, using a tone of voice none of them had ever heard before.
“Ask your friend Kisuke. Go!”
Without further warning or preamble the archers put their hands on the young men in the room and they all simply disappeared.
