Chapter 5
Renji cocked his head to the side a little, looking curiously at Uryuu. “Somethin’ you wanna tell us about, Quincy?”
Uryuu glared at him. “Oh, of course. Every child with dark hair and blue eyes is mine. Naturally,” he said, sarcasm dripping from every word. “This one especially since I only met her mother an hour or so ago.”
“Okay, okay, don’t get your man panties in a bunch,” Renji said. “Just checking since we don’t know what the hell got us here in the first place aside from some sorta pact your bunch made with these people.”
Uryuu sighed heavily, rubbing his fingers across his forehead and temples where a throbbing ache had settled. “I only remember one pact being mentioned by my grandfather. But it was too ridiculous to be believed.”
“Well, I guess for once that bitch Alexa wasn’t lying,” said a voice from the doorway to the room.
All four of them looked up to find a woman leaning there, looking as though she was starving and any one of them happened to be a five course meal. She tilted her head one way then another for a moment, long black hair swaying as she moved and very blue eyes seeming to study them all in turn before she moved from her spot and around the table to where Renji sat. Before he could move, she had yanked the tie holding his hair free and tossed it across the room in disgust.
“Ugliest. Hairstyle. Ever. I forbid you to wear it like that again,” she said, running her hands through the mass of red as it fell around his shoulders. “Much better,” she purred, wrapping her fingers around several strands before tugging them up to rub her face against.
“Hey! What the hell do you think you’re . . .” Renji began before his chair was pulled back away from the table and he suddenly found himself with a female straddled across his thighs. Not that he would have complained about that normally but it was just a really freaky situation. She seemed to be solely focused on him and ignoring the others in the room who were staring at the odd scene in equal parts amusement and minor shock. She began rubbing her fingers and thumbs across the tattoos on his face and neck.
“These are so beautiful,” she said. “They’re permanent, aren’t they?”
“Uh, yeah.”
“Are they all over you?” she asked curiously, pulling the neck of his shirt away from him to look down it. “Oh, they are all over!” She instantly had her hands under the hem of his shirt, shoving it up to get a better look.
“Hey! Get yer hands out of there!” Renji protested, squirming and trying to get free without dumping her in the floor.
“Ama! Get off of him. Now!” came Nyx’s voice from the doorway.
The other woman huffed and looked annoyed but didn’t move. “The bitch said you had four men in here but I didn’t believe it at first. So, I came to see for myself.”
“Seeing them does not include molesting one of them,” Nyx said. “Now get off of him.”
“But siiiiss,” she whined. “I want this one. You never told me that men were this beautiful.”
“Not all of them are and he isn’t exactly human. They are not here to be our playthings, Ama,” Nyx said sternly.
“Says you. You’ve already got yours here and he’s the last of them. The rest of us have to look elsewhere.”
“I will not be honoring the pact,” Nyx growled. “I have my child. I have no need for more. Certainly not from someone I just met.”
Uryuu stared at her for a moment as a myriad of things suddenly tumbled and clicked into place. “Dear gods. You’re Amazon, aren’t you?”
“Yes,” Nyx said simply.
“Then what my grandfather told me was true. About the Quincy making a pact with the Amazon women over two thousand years ago. A pact that served both sides for centuries, never broken.”
“True.”
“Oh? Why are they calling Ryuuken a traitor then?” Ama asked, looking curiously over her shoulder at Nyx. She was still sitting on Renji and didn’t look like she was moving anytime soon. At least not without the help of C-4 and a crowbar.
“I don’t know why,” Nyx said, frowning slightly. “As far as I know, he honored the pact since you exist.”
“What do you mean?” Uryuu asked.
Nyx sighed. “Uryuu Ishida, meet your half sister Amaterasu.”
Uryuu glared at him. “Oh, of course. Every child with dark hair and blue eyes is mine. Naturally,” he said, sarcasm dripping from every word. “This one especially since I only met her mother an hour or so ago.”
